Best Greek Philanthropy Events Of January 2017

Kappa Alpha Theta At Baylor University - CASA Couture
Kappa Alpha Theta At Baylor University - CASA Couture

As expected, the philanthropy efforts were light in January. Some schools don’t start classes until half way through the month, so this isn’t a surprise. There were a few chapters, although, that took advantage of the free time that a new semester offers.

Kappa Alpha Theta at Baylor University - CASA Couture
On Wednesday, January 25th the Thetas at Baylor held their annual CASA Couture event. The sisters filled their chapter room full of vendors who sell crafts and merchandise for Greek organizations. They had a huge room full of jewelry and all the proceeds went toward CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates. The nonprofit assigns appointed volunteers to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children during their journey through the legal and social system. The sisters really made a good argument for there really being no reason for students not to come and treat themselves.

Sigma Gamma Rho at LSU - Wild Out Wednesday: StRHOlling for a Cause
The SGRho’s at LSU put on a dance party on Wednesday, January 25th to raise awareness and accept donations for their philanthropy, Project Cradle Care. The organization helps to bring awareness to prenatal and postnatal care for children. The event looks like it was a ton of fun.
Alpha Phi at The University of Akron – service day at Haven of Rest On January 21st members of Alpha Phi from University of Akron spent their Saturday helping volunteer at Haven of Rest. The social services agency located in Akron serves the homeless in Northeast Ohio with meals, shelter and clothing. Looks like the girls got outside and did some sidewalk cleaning. Every little bit helps.
