8 Things Actual Sisters In The Same Sorority Relate To

When I went through sorority recruitment at my university, I had the unique opportunity of experiencing it with my blood-related sister. She was a junior at the time, and I was a freshman. We both had our hearts set on the same sorority, and, on bid night, vowed to each other that if one of us didn’t get a bid to that chapter, neither of us would join (I know, so cute). Fortunately, on that night we ripped open our neatly sealed, cream-colored envelopes with shaking hands
, simultaneously laughing and crying as we discovered that we had both become members of Delta Gamma at Loyola Marymount University. Moments like this, along with many others, are ones that only actual sisters who have been in sororities together can relate to. Here’s the top eight:

1) You’ve used the hashtag “#doublesisters” on social media…probably the night your sister got her bid.

Or for the more poetic of the bunch, some version of “Blood sisters by chance, sorority sisters by choice.”
2) In the beginning, your sorority sisters always mistook you for twins…
3) Or didn’t know you were related.
4) One of you has always been more into sorority life than the other.

5) Your mom is like every other mom of a sorority girl…x2. Sisters—you know exactly what I mean.

6) You go to sisterhoods and social events to become more social, but spend most of the time with your actual sister.
7) You cover up for your sister when she is too “sick” to go to chapter… And, let’s be real, sometimes you’re sick with her.
8) Finally, you share the dream of having daughters that also end up in the same sorority, and then their daughters joining that sorority, and basically your entire future family becoming #doublerelatives.
