The Worst Conversation I Had During Recruitment

Everyone has that house. That house during recruitment that we keep getting asked back to no matter how many times we try to drop them. It's not that they're "Bottom tier" it's just that every time you walk into the house you can feel that it is definitely not the place for you.

I had this experience at a particular house during recruitment. Although I had my eyes set on a particular house I was open to hearing what the girls at the other houses had to say.

So there was this one particular house, and even though I knew from the start I didn't belong in it, I still kept an open mind when I went through the first round and I did not drop it. But during the second round when I went back to this house I had what may have been the worst converstion ever.
Honestly I will never forget the girl that I talked to because of how obnoxious she was. It was as if everything that I said she had to say the opposite or make me feel like what I felt strongly about was plain old stupid.
She began drilling me about what my schedule was. And my schedule I’m not talking about the arrangement of classes I was taking.  But by schedule she meant how I plan out my day specifically. When I told her that I don't have a specific schedule for every day and I like to “go with the flow” she responded with “I have to have a schedule for everything.” And continued to explain how it was important to have the schedule for your daily life.
She then proceeded to ask me what I like to do to relax in my spare time. When I responded with “I like to relax and watch Netflix”, her response was “I think TV is stupid and a waste of time.”
After that I 100% knew that this house was completely not for me. Not only did this girl hate Netflix, and come on who actually hates Netflix, but also it was the fact that she had to take every single thing I said and make me feel like what I was saying was wrong.

Of course I had to keep going back to this house, but I knew the whole time that I could not possibly end up there, and luckily I didn’t.
Going through rush may be a long, complicated, and sometimes an emotional process, but it's really easy to tell what houses are for you and which are definitely not for you.  It’s important to go into recruitment with an open mind, but remember that if a house makes you feel uncomfortable or you can tell you wouldn’t fit in, don’t try and force yourself to think otherwise no matter how great it’s reputation may be. Always do what is going to be best for you, as you’ll be spending the next four years with these people.
