sending love

by:

Sending love to the girls who have been released today or are worried what the outcome will be tomorrow.

One moment does not define your life!

Here is a quote that helps me...
"As I look back on my life,
I realize that every time I thought I was being
Rejected
from something good, I was actually being
Re-directed
to something BETTER!"

Agreed! There is cob, rushing again next year...and life outside sororities on this campus.

Only 1/3 of students are Greek. Be sure to get involved in the other awesome activities here. You will also make connections with other Greeks which can only help if you decide to COB or go through recruitment next year. Good luck!

thanks for the panlove but it doesn't really make starting my collegiate experience with a week of daily rejections any easier. I keep hearing that there is a house for everyone and that greek life has a diverse array of girls... yet there was no chapter that was "right" for me.

I wish you had a better experience. I honestly do believe there is a sorority for everyone - that sorority just may not have realized it yet! If there were any obvious problems for you (gpa, recs) - get those taken care of this year! Go out and make friends - many of them will be in sororities, which could definitely help you for COB/Spring Rush or if you try again next year. Check out SDT, ADX, or the engineering or business sororities and fraternities. But most of all, realize that rush doesn't define you at all and often isn't even personal. A lot of the times, houses focus on girls they already know or girls who will fit a specific need (athletes, honor students, singers, etc.) and because of that, great girls get overlooked. Whatever you do, don't let this stop you from having a great year! I wasn't in a sorority my freshman year, and even though at the beginning I was a little jealous of some of my friends who were, I still had an amazing time, and you will too!

I have a friend who got released last year right before pref. She was so devastated, but picked herself up and got involved in some other things here on campus. She also signed up for COB and guess what? Got invited to a spring party by the chapter that had been her favorite during fall and got a bid! She's so happy now and says that it all timed out for the best. She sure didn't feel that way when she first got released, but looking back, is really glad it worked out like it did. Good luck and don't give up if you really want to be in a sorority!

There are more options including SDT, whose rush starts this coming week I believe, and ADX the Christian sorority is an option as well. I'm sorry rush didn't go how you wanted but everything works itself out in the end and you're going to have a great experience here at UA!

No group is planning to come on right now. With all the construction, there's no place for one. Once construction is about over (3 to 4 years), a swing house could open. Also by then SDT may want to come back to sorority row and again participate in formal recruitment.

Bloom where you are planted! Even if you don't get your first choice tomorrow, the system DOES work and it may take a while but you will figure out why you belong in the chapter you get a bid from. Go to bid day, participate, and try to have fun. Get to know your new sisters outside of the 10 or so you made your decision based on. You will find your niche whether you get a bid from your first or last choice.
