withdrawal
by: pnmThis has not been a very good experience for me. I have the 4 houses I originally dropped plus 1. I don't know what to do. I have not even considered these houses. I do not think I'm better just don't know how I fit. Can they see something I don't? Plus I've never even heard of some of them.

Hang in there. Don't be too discouraged. Having five houses LOVE you is awesome! You will find friends that will have your back through anything. Find something to like about them. Look deeper. They feel you would make their house even better and you would be comfortable there. What a great thing to have FIVE houses!! Trust the process. Promise it will work out. Chin up young lady, you are great.

OP said she didn't think she was better. But I totally agree that with 300 girls (plus your new 130 pledge sisters) you can find someone to click with!!!! Forget the rest. You have 5 opportunities. Find your home and next year at rush you will be encouraging someone to do the same.

OP: You said you "...never even heard of some of them". This implies a pre-conceived decision by you that these 4 houses you ranked lower (not dropped) are not as good in your mind. This is so CRAZY, I can't believe it.
WE'VE ALL HEARD OF ALL OF THEM AND THEY ARE AWESOME - NATIONALLY AND LOCALLY. Don't give up greek life for this! Be bold. Take a chance on an amazing sisterhood you will develop if you get those pesky pre-conceived notions out of your brain. Today is the day. Don't lose out. Seize this one-time opportunity!

My advice:
1. Don't withdraw
2. Rank ALL of your pref houses as best as you are able to. This will ensure you get a bid to one of them.
Here's the deal- your pledge sisters are what makes sorority life so awesome. They will be your new bff's, your future roomates, maybe even bridesmaids. Those women aren't even in the chapters yet! So take a look around before you go into each house for pref and notice who is in line with you- maybe a girl from your group that you clicked with this week or some girls you've briefly met in your dorm?
Accept your bid and go on your pledge class retreat, whether you've heard of the sorority or not. You won't initiate for a few months so you can still drop out....which I bet you won't want to after meeting your pledge class!
Would you rather not be Greek at all than take a chance on a house that loves you? If you rush again next year, you'll probably not have a better outcome. Many sororities practice a "once cut, always cut" rule.

This post just makes me sad. All the hate on this site and tent talk really affects some girls and keeps them from finding their best fit house and a great sisterhood! All I can say is I hope you keep an open mind. Filter out the negative talk and consider the source of your information and why you think you won't fit. Honestly, so many amazing girls go through every year and they find their home in all the different amazing houses. You will too, if you open your heart. Really, how can you truly know you won't fit? Do you know every girl? Is there no one with your major or similar interests to you? Do you REALLY know anything about them?
But I agree. You need to be able to commit, no matter which house you run to on Bid Day. No matter which house, you will get out of it what you put into it!

Please. They always say that. "nothing in common" is secret code for "I'm too good for them." She needs to drop before these nice houses get stuck with such a rotten brat.
