by: potential transferhow do you get recs when you are out of state and don't really know anyone in a sorority? does being out of state automatically put you at a disadvantage? also do you even have a chance of getting a bid if you are a transfer student?

You are just asking this now? Getting or not getting recs has nothing to do with being in state or out of state. Alums life all over the world. You do not have to get recs from Bama alums. They just have to be an alum of that particular sorority. ADPis living anywhere can write a rec for someone going to Bama, but they can only write a rec for ADPi chapters. A Gamma Phi living in Arizona can write a rec for someone giving to Bama. Recs are needed at Bama-no excuses. If you want to level the playing field then you better have recs.
