honest question about zta
by: PnmWithout bashing on zeta as a whole, can someone please tell me just how negative of an impact their lack of a house will have on our experience this year if we were to end up being in that chapter?
#1by: Not for me
Personally, I would want to be in a sorority with a house, but I heard they do have a swing house/somewhere to hangout. The sisters make the sorority, not the house, although having a beautiful house does have its perks! It probably depends on each person....might really annoy some girls, or not be a super big deal to others!

Let me just tell you about MY experience as a freshman who had a sorority house to hang out at, and maybe it'll give you a deeper understanding of how this will effect you.
I was at my sorority house every waking minute. For breakfast before class, in between classes, every meal, to study, to hang out, watch movies, get to know people. I was there every game day with my parents eating it watching away games with friends. I practically lived there during homecoming week, pomping the lawn decoration and other things. I was there every Sunday night for new member meetings, we gathered there before every swap, met there when we had to get on busses to date parties, had rush workshops there all spring, I went there after every long night out to get some snacks before heading back to tut to go to bed.
I can't imagine NOT having a sorority house. I know you will not know anything different, but believe me when I say how important it is for every freshman to have a for real home away from home.
Their new house is a long trek away from the dorms, it is tiny, meals will not be served there, you will not be able to study there, and most likely, you won't be able to hang out in such a tight space.
I do like ZTA, I'm not bashing them at all, but I think you as a pnm need to get the full freshman experience and I just don't see that for girls who will pledge zeta.

It'll hurt Sisterhood, but I've hung out with Zetas the past two years at Alabama and they seem to be extremely tight despite the fact that their old house was small and didn't provide much room to hang out/study. Same size as DZ's house yet much better friendships made there. So do I think it will make the pledge class horrible? No. Do I think it'll be hard without a proper place to meet for studying, date parties, dinner?? Maybe, probably yes. But Zeta is a good sorority at Alabama and a ton of guys love them, so they'll be fine. This coming from a guy.

Zeta has a swing house and yes, they have a food plan..they're actually catering dinner every monday and wednesday night as well. You don't pick a sorority based off their house. Again, it doesnt matter cause there is still a house for the girls to hangout, eat, and do study hours at.

IDK if it will end up hurting them or not, but I am a pnm and my opion is that it is a negative factor for them. even though it is a negative for them, i am super excited to continue to get to know them during recruitment. i am open to pledging them because they seem really fun and don't take themselves too seriously.

There are lots of campuses that don't have sorority houses and tons girls have great experiences. Auburn is the first that comes to mind. Meals are not served in the chapter rooms there. Same at Samford, UNA, and BSC. Your experience is what you make of it. And the carrot is a brand new state of the art house and a place where you feel comfortable( providing ZTA ends up being a favorite of yours). Best wishes.

Get where you're coming from! I agree. But, they do have a new house coming, and it will be worth it! If you bond with the girls, then give it a try! If it's a super big deal to you, then maybe not your house! It will probably affect them, but who really knows.
