I have above a 3.5 GPA and am coming from out of state with few connections, should I be worried about receiving a bid?

If you have a decent personality and you don't have a bad reputation, you'll be fine. Just keep an open mind.

I think a lot of girls come through that do some of these things but it is just not as known or widespread

Or you lie and cause lots of drama.
Sure, bad ones get through, but alumnae are really good about sending "no" recs on nasty girls.

agree wtih @no. just be yourself and have fun. if you get all uptight, it will keep you from showing and being your best self. There is enough room. There has to be.

ps. but don't be flashing your tats and touting your liberal views (if you have either, keep a lid on it during recruitment).

You're in the same boat as at least 1,000 of the other girls coming through rush. 3.5 is a good GPA for rush. I know girls who got bids with much, much lower. Like below a 3.0, although maybe not to the best house. 3.5 should be good enough for just about all the houses. Get rec letters, look cute, be personable. You will do fine during rush. Remember, most girls coming through rush nowadays ARENT from Alabama.

But if we're coming from out of state, are most Alabama girls "desired"?

Yes, they're most desired, but there are spaces for almost everyone. Do NOT worry about being OOS.
