In my opinion Sigma Chi is still lagging behind Pike and Theta Chi. They're almost inseparable (to the point of recruiting the same people each year) but Sigma Chi has fallen behind, in part due to low grades but also involvement and judicial issues.

If you were to pledge sigma chi in three years could thing be different? In the sense of what this order would be? Can you go wrong pledging any of these houses

Probably not, rankings are pretty set and take a while to change here at Alabama. You will probably have a good time at all of em besides Sigma Pi

Theta Chi and Pike, the top of new row, have probably filled out around 80% of their pledge class, while Sigma Chi would be anywhere from 60-70%. ATO and Sigma Pi both recruit very heavily at the beginning of the school year.

Phi Gam is the best of those three, pretty respected house with good guys but they are a lot more tame compared to the majority of Old Row. Always hanging out with the same 2-3 sororities.
Phi Delt is known as the red-headed step child of Old Row. They're respected, but not too much. Really very similar and maybe even worse than the top New Row houses (they live right beside them too) but they have the social status and prestige of Old Row. Could change, their pledge classes have been alright but nothing special the past few years.
Lambda Chi should be grouped with those other two. They're one of the upper middle Jefferson fraternities, and aside from Sigma Pi they're the worst one you've listed in this thread (at least as far as rep, funds, size, and house). Word of advice: Going lower than ATO will mean that you'll pretty frequently have a lot of sororities cancel on you, and I can guarantee you won't swap with AXO, PM, AGD, DDD, so pick wisely. I like plenty of the guys in the Jefferson fraternities but that's the way it is for many of them.

Sororities would rather go to a Phi Gam party than an AKL party, for instance. The higher up on the rung you go, the better the guys are (generally) and thus so are the parties. I can't imagine a sorority like PM, ZTA, Kappa, KD, [insert good, sought after house] would schedule a swap with, say, Kappa Sig, and not back out if DKE came calling. It's just the way it is, and I've seen it happen to even the top New Row houses.
