Is it true that one person can block you by basically "black balling" you in recruitment if they don't like you, even though you know you have done nothing wrong to offend them. I know some girls from my high school, and have friends of friends they didn't like. Could this be a problem going thru recruitment?

Yes. In my house when we are going through and voting on girls each time we can stand up and say pros and cons about them, and trust me when I say that girls usually listen to the cons more than the pros. If I meet you and you come off rude or disinterested believe that I'll be sharing that with the rest of my chapter come voting time.

Just as a note to all the pnms coming through who think that they are too good for the lower tier houses, and act accordingly when invited back, keep in mind that you never know who the active you are talking to is friends with. For all you know she could be rooming with a girl from your favorite sorority, and actives definitely talk after each day. Just some food for thought.

Can blackball you also. Aka a"non-reference". Pays to be nice to everyone - always. Too bad you can't ask the woman who used to run Tuscaloosa Civinettes. She's dead now but she put her daughter through rush at Bama and the girl had a no-rec from every mother who got told their girl wasn't "good enough" for Civinettes. Payback is hell.

Honestly it all depends on the house politics. Black balling means that one bad vote will get you eliminated. All houses have their system, but it takes more than one 'black ball' for sure. It very much depends on the influence that a member has and how she sways others. There are some sisters in my house whose judgement and social skills I don't respect in the least. If she doesn't like a pnm then I'm going to want to bring her back, if she loves a pnm then I'm going to want to vote her out. My friend group and others feel the same. You have no control over this so my advice is to smile and be confident and prove to the sisters you talk to that you are better than whatever the one who doesn't like you says.

People like you really need to stop saying your sorority's behind the scenes strategies. Pnms should not know any of this going through. You're making every single sorority look bad by giving this information out.
Everything that a sorority does behind closed doors is confidential. Please stop giving it all away. No pnm should know ANYTHING about a "voting process"
