How do you not know about recommendations? Either google it or look at last years Greek chic on Panhellenic's website

Letters of recommendation are forms about you that sorority alumni fill out and send in to the U of Alabama chapter of their particular sorority, either recommending you for their chapter or saying that they don't recommend you for their chapter.
Example - Sally May, your neighbor, was a Pi Beta Phi at Ole Miss. You go next door and ask her if she would mind writing you a recommendation for Pi Beta Phi at Alabama. If she says yes, then you send her your resume (different than one for a job application - sorority resumes are their own kind. Google an example), and a picture of you (not a selfie, but not a prom or beauty pageant pic - just a natural, clear, good picture of just you. You should look very similar to how you will look during recruitment). Those are the 2 things that you absolutely need to give her, but I would also give her a manilla folder that already has the U of Alabama Pi Beta Phi address written on it with the correct postage on it so she doesn't have to do that herself since she's doing you a favor, along with a thank you note from you saying how grateful you are that they are writing you a rec. She will then fill out the form that she already has, and she will send it in herself. Once you give her your rec packet with the things she needs, she will take it from there. You don't have to do anything else for your Pi Beta Phi rec.

You 100% need at least one rec for each of the chapters on our campus. More than 1 per chapter isn't necessary, but a lot of PNMs will have multiple rec letters. If you get more than 1, then they have to be written from different people. Rec letters for certain sororities have to be written by alumni that were in that particular sorority.
Example - A Phi Mu alumni can't write you a recommendation for Kappa Kappa Gamma. She can only write you a recommendation for Phi Mu.

Finding ladies to write you recommendations and getting all your packets together and to these ladies takes a lot of hard work, but it isn't impossible. You need to ask everyone in your family if they were in a sorority and if they weren't, then if they know someone who was. Then ask your neighbors, your teachers, your coaches, your friend's parents, ladies at your church, etc. You will find people. There are greeks all around you. If you do all of these things and are still in need of a few recs, then contact your local Panhellenic Alumni Association. To find one, just google "(your city) Panhellenic Alumni Association" and they probably have a website.

The ladies who write your recs do not have to have gone to Alabama. They can be an alumni from any school as long as they are in that sorority and they are in good standing with that sorority. They have to be initiated members. Going back to my example from earlier, Sally May didn't attend Alabama. She attended Ole Miss, but she was an iniated member of Pi Beta Phi, and she is in good standing with the sorority. So she is fine to write your rec.

So basically, you need to find ladies who were members of all of the sororities on our campus, and you need to ask them kindly if they would be willing to write you a recommendation for their sorority. You can tell them that you are really struggling and you aren't really sure what you have to do for recruitment, and they should give you some tips and let you know what they need from you.

Example -
Listed below are your rec writers and what their greek affiliation is and where they went to school. You need to have at least one lady for each different sorority to write you a recommendation. It does not matter what school they went to. You can have as many writers as you want that went to the same school, if you want. It doesn't matter.

Callie - Alpha Chi Omega - U of Georgia
Jamie - Alpha Delta Pi - U of Florida
Alison - Alpha Gamma Delta - Auburn
Jeanna - Alpha Omicron Pi - U of Alabama
Donna - Alpha Phi - Mizzou
Mollie - Chi Omega - Vanderbilt
Hayley - Delta Delta Delta - LSU
Jackie - Delta Gamma - U of Tennessee
Hannah - Delta Zeta - U of Alabama
Mary - Gamma Phi Beta - Texas A&M
Katherine - Kappa Alpha Theta - Mizzou
Anna - Kappa Delta - Ole Miss
Morgan - Kappa Kappa Gamma - U of South Carolina
Jennifer - Phi Mu - LSU
Sally May - Pi Beta Phi - Ole Miss
Margaret - Zeta Tau Alpha - Mississippi State

So You have contacted all of these ladies and they have agreed to write you a rec for their sorority. Now you send them your rush packet (ask them what you need, and I listed it earlier) and they will send it in. Get more than one rec per chapter if you can, but it isn’t necessary. You need to get on this ASAP; A lot of PNMs have been long done with this. Good luck to you! I really hope you aren’t a troll, because if you are then I just wrote all this out for nothing.

Well, there are still a lot of PNMs who have been putting this off, and a lot who are just now waking up to it.
