A lot of it is zip code and what high school you went to. You'll also get questions about what you did over the summer that lead girls to reveal whether they have lake/beach houses or travelled in Europe.

You may be asked what clubs, charities, etc. your parents belong to/participate in. (Ex: Mountain Brook Club > Birmingham Country Club > Vestavia Country Club; Ballet Guild of Birmingham > Ballet Women's Committee.)

And also debutante stuff reveals a lot, like Birmingham/Hoover Belles

It does not take much to be a debutant any more. In most states all you have to do participate in the National Charity League for at least a year.

There is no financial requirements either.

So jokes on y'all.

Sounds like someone is a little bitter...I don't see why you care so much if it's not a big deal to you.

In the south where I come from, being a debutante is a big deal. It's something that has to do with who your family is, granted every one has money too.

Those who have it never talk about it!
They never flaunt it.
They never brag.

So if expect a real lady to tell you something she will not if she was raised right.

It's not like we would ever come right out and ask them what their parents do--that's rude! I would never even go as far as to ask them if they were a member of a country club or anything unless they offered up the information, but why would we want to give a bid to a girl that is just going to have to drop because she cannot afford it? We have to keep the money flowing to build our brand new, beautiful houses!

It's not enough to have money ... it's about connections and breeding.
