Who and what is Old Row?

Seven houses are old row - AXO KKG KD XO AGD PM DDD
They are traditionally the most prestigious, hardest to get into, have the highest return rates. There are different stories about how they became the old row houses, but I think they were basically picked as favorites of fraternities like 50 years ago or something. There's also a story about Budweiser sponsoring a party or something.
They don't give any different sorority experience, all houses are similar in how many swaps, date parties, etc. they have and all chapters are similar in size.
