Grade Requirements once pledge

by:

I heard AXO and AGD have high GPA requirements to stay as a active.….what's the scoop. Do you have to maintain a 3.2 or higher once you pledge to not be on academic probation and to participate. Do you get swaps taken away or what happens? I have good grades but want to have fun as well.

Yes I know 3 who can't be involved because of this, like can't do rush this year etc.

You have to toe the line if you want social privileges during your first couple of months. Grades are important to both houses. It can be a lot to balance for some.

I'm honestly curious. I look at some of these sorority GPAs and am blown away. I mean where are the people that come to college and almost fail calculus or chemistry their first semester and realize that maybe they don't want to be doctors or engineers? Is it that grade inflation is a thing or what?

Alum here! If you don’t make grades in most houses that care (AXO, XO, AGD) you just get extra study hours the next term. If it’s a repetitive issue, then you will probably be put on social probation (no date parties, swaps, etc.). But let’s say you are a smart gal and take calc and Chem in the fall. You don’t make a 3.2 and to realize you don’t want to be pre-med or whatever anymore. In the spring, you change your major and make grades (3.2+) while doing your extra study hall hours. You are not at risk of being on social probation the next fall and no longer have to do study hall hours. Don’t not pledge somewhere because you are not confident about your major. It all works out.
