Please be open to every house

In light of philanthropy round starting today, I just want to remind PNMs to please keep an open mind. 3 years ago when I went thru rush, I didn’t get any houses back for philanthropy that I wanted. Not a single one. I ended up going to the houses I did get invited back to, and didn’t love any. All of the houses I went to were low mid/ low tier according to this website. Then, during sisterhood, I soon began to really see myself being part of a couple of the houses I went to. At pref, I could easily see myself being a sister in either house, but didn’t know which to pref. I ended up considering dropping after I got my bid, and I’m SO SO happy I didn’t. I have had the absolute best time in my sorority and have made lifelong friends. Never once did I ever feel that my sorority experience was bad due to their ranking on here. My roommate freshman year went OR, and we had equally busy social calendars and equally great experiences. All of the rankings here are subjective. I am so grateful I decided to stick it out after bid day, and I hope any PNM reading this realizes it’s perfectly fine to not fall in love with a house right away. Keep an open mind, put in effort to really get to know the girls and their sisterhood when you talk to them, and don’t think about “ranks” <3

This message is so accurate and I hope they listen. It’s a shame so many girls get caught up on these opinions and miss out on great opportunities when these ranking mean nothing and no one cares after bid day.

When you get invites back, do not take it personally if you are not asked back to houses. At least eight houses have to make heavy cuts, so not having a rec letter, GPA, or being a known legacy somewhere will probably cause you to be let go. Find a favorite each day, and then find your home. Good luck!!

Also, know that being a legacy does not guarantee you a spot. ESPECIALLY if you are a legacy from somewhere other than Alabama.

work week videos prove that all the houses have fun and beautiful girls. there is old row and there is new row that is the only ranking difference. other than sk being new and not having their house yet. all of the new row houses are basically the same.

And all of the OR houses definitely aren’t the same either! There are big differences in the houses and it’s about finding your fit. A more religious PNM doesn’t want to land in a party house and vice versa.The PNMs will be able to see for themselves starting today!
