post on tiktok - you will be dropped by elite houses

by:

If you are rushing at Alabama and want to be in an old row house (KD, CHI O, Kappa, Alpha Gam, Alpha Chi, Tri Delt, Phi Mu), STOP POSTING ON TIKTOK. I was in an old row house at bama and we dropped any girl that blew up on tiktok during rush week. Because of the negativity surrounding bama rush the past few years, any elite sorority at bama does not want that kind of negative attention on their house. Old Row stays Old Row by being selective and secretive. If you wanna be a Zeta or Aphi go right ahead, but any old row house does not want you. We had girls that we loved but had to drop because they blew up on tiktok under the #bamarush tag. Just don't do it y'all.

Can’t stress how important this is! No matter how squeaky clean your TikTok is, you WILL be dropped from Old Row. Even Phi Mu learned their lesson once they realized SR was in the documentary.

I agree, but I think what you meant to say is 'discrete' not secretive. Discretion in displaying appropriate behavior at all times, in public and on social media, should be important to everyone, but not everyone gets that. Drawing attention to yourself in a way that could be spun into something negative or invite controversy and criticism, and let's face it anything on tiktok can be that, is not a good idea for anyone. It also shows a self-centeredness, and sororities are about the membership, not the self.

If you want the benefits of sorority membership and the association with its name and reputation, you have to contribute to that as a member to hold the standard. "What's in it for me?" is a good question, but not the only question. What do you have to contribute that other members want to be assiciated with?

And ALL those houses USE social media to market themselves. Biggest bunch of hypocrites

The actives lived by those same rules when they rushed, there is a difference between an active member and a PNM. As a PNM, you want them to see you as someone who is rushing to be a part of the sorority for four years and be active and give back, not as someone who’s just doing it to get followers, likely to drop when the first year hype is over, maybe not even finish the degree. Sororities are strongest when they recruit girls who stick around for four years.

^ this is why Zeta is middle tier and Alpha Phi is bottom tier. They use the recruiting tactic of seeking out IG and TikTok girls. So far I’d say that strategy has failed.

Actually TT is what scares the other house about Zeta. They do it well and it gives them an advantage. OR doesn’t want it be a thing bc they’ll loose their ranking. If they weren’t so scared, they wouldn’t be posting consistently about ZTA or social media.

You seriously think TikTok gives ZTA an advantage? Kylan’s videos of her awkwardly leading around the ZTA house is so cringe.

She has the body of a 12-yr-old boy and the personality of a dead mouse.

If anything the barrage of Zeta TikTokkers hurts them more than helps.

Those zetas in the rush doc definitely didn’t help. PM got burned by that doc too. When houses talk about stopping certain girls because they’re a social media liability, this is what they’re talking about.

The real world includes social media. Everything on TT has been fine. Nothing wrong with OOTDs. Employers won’t fire u over it.

Employers won't care but we're talking about sorority rush. Know your audience, read the room. Sororities decide what is "fine", not outsiders, and will not choose a pnm if they find her tiktoks cringy or if they think she over posts.

OR can make whatever cuts they want. A lot of PNMs r posting and still posting. They enjoy it. It isn’t a big a deal. OR will have a worse recruitment bc of this attitude. That’s why u keep posting this warning. OR is worried they won’t have their picks of PNMs. The funny thing, nobody is listening.

Not anymore. Shelby Rose was a TT girl and got a bid from PM. She also voluntarily participated in that horrible Bama Rush documentary and PM did nothing. OR isn’t what it once was.

It’s super cringy for alum to be posting on this site. No one wants your advise, Karen. We r all savy enough to understand social media. Also, maybe some of us don’t care about OR. It seems restrictive and judgmental with alums have tons of comments about what u do. Not interested

By: Cringy
by: ^

It doesn't matter in the least to OR if you're interested or not; you're just a groupie who wants to view content, and pnm's who are catering to what people like you want instead of what sororities want aren't going to have as many choices in rush. The sororities ARE savvy in social media, they are doing the chosing, and if the pnm's were actually savvy enough there wouldn't be all these threads about it. Maybe take this advice, try to be more savvy in spelling.

Nobody asked for a washed up alum’s opinion that went through rush before the internet existed. Bama has changed since 1990.

The jealousy on here from Zeta and Alpha Phi is sad. They wish they could be old row.

I get it, this is a school where no matter how hard a house tries, they can’t get around the old row thing. There is prestige associated with old row and it goes back generations.

Old Row doesn't need TT PNMs. Some might make it in if they have outstanding gpas, recs, activites, and maybe pageant participation. That thrifter PNM on TT is a good example of the exception, but most PNMs shouldn't take the risk.

If you're a PNM who gives the impression that she's rushing primarily to elevate her social media platform, OR will cut you. There are over 2,000 girls going through recruitment this year. Chapters don't need you and the potential liability of your social media.

There's a TTer who dropped AXO over its social media restrictions. Look her up. Once you're in a house, your social media will be monitored - except apparently not ZTA.

Part of the fault here is Panhel. They need to make this clearer to PNMs and it didn't happen this year.

UA is in the south and has many traditions one is Greek Life. If you are not from here you just don't understand, when Panhel strongly advises against it I wouldn't do it. The OR sororities are watching and you are putting yourself at risk. You can be a PR nightmare or a dream. If you want to do it and are having fun just know it may impact what houses you get. HBO Doc didnt hurt any houses thank goodness but media can flip something in a second to make it fit their narrative. I am sure there will be tons of media coverage again this year, it just best to lay low during this time.
