post on tiktok - you will be dropped by elite houses
by: bama alumniIf you are rushing at Alabama and want to be in an old row house (KD, CHI O, Kappa, Alpha Gam, Alpha Chi, Tri Delt, Phi Mu), STOP POSTING ON TIKTOK. I was in an old row house at bama and we dropped any girl that blew up on tiktok during rush week. Because of the negativity surrounding bama rush the past few years, any elite sorority at bama does not want that kind of negative attention on their house. Old Row stays Old Row by being selective and secretive. If you wanna be a Zeta or Aphi go right ahead, but any old row house does not want you. We had girls that we loved but had to drop because they blew up on tiktok under the #bamarush tag. Just don't do it y'all.

It’s super cringy for alum to be posting on this site. No one wants your advise, Karen. We r all savy enough to understand social media. Also, maybe some of us don’t care about OR. It seems restrictive and judgmental with alums have tons of comments about what u do. Not interested

Old Row doesn't need TT PNMs. Some might make it in if they have outstanding gpas, recs, activites, and maybe pageant participation. That thrifter PNM on TT is a good example of the exception, but most PNMs shouldn't take the risk.
If you're a PNM who gives the impression that she's rushing primarily to elevate her social media platform, OR will cut you. There are over 2,000 girls going through recruitment this year. Chapters don't need you and the potential liability of your social media.
There's a TTer who dropped AXO over its social media restrictions. Look her up. Once you're in a house, your social media will be monitored - except apparently not ZTA.
Part of the fault here is Panhel. They need to make this clearer to PNMs and it didn't happen this year.

UA is in the south and has many traditions one is Greek Life. If you are not from here you just don't understand, when Panhel strongly advises against it I wouldn't do it. The OR sororities are watching and you are putting yourself at risk. You can be a PR nightmare or a dream. If you want to do it and are having fun just know it may impact what houses you get. HBO Doc didnt hurt any houses thank goodness but media can flip something in a second to make it fit their narrative. I am sure there will be tons of media coverage again this year, it just best to lay low during this time.

I agree, but I think what you meant to say is 'discrete' not secretive. Discretion in displaying appropriate behavior at all times, in public and on social media, should be important to everyone, but not everyone gets that. Drawing attention to yourself in a way that could be spun into something negative or invite controversy and criticism, and let's face it anything on tiktok can be that, is not a good idea for anyone. It also shows a self-centeredness, and sororities are about the membership, not the self.
If you want the benefits of sorority membership and the association with its name and reputation, you have to contribute to that as a member to hold the standard. "What's in it for me?" is a good question, but not the only question. What do you have to contribute that other members want to be assiciated with?
