Thin, Pretty Blondes

by:

Do they have an easier time at rush than us average looking girls? How prevalent is “pretty privilege” during recruitment?

It depends. If they don’t have a 3.5, it doesn’t matter. Lots of pretty girls get dropped.

What is a "pretty" girl supposed to do about her "privilege"? Refuse it like 'no I won't go to formal with you cause it's not fair to the average girls', or give it away like 'don't pick me for Miss University of Alabama you need an average girl', or hide it under a mask like 'don't look at me okay I'm too pretty'?

For initial cuts, looks don’t help much. Connections & GPA matter way more and far too many girls for us to go through checking what everyone looks like on Instagram

From Round 2 - Pref, not gonna lie, pretty privilege exists as long as they have a personality to match.

Every house, even the supposed “looks house” have girls that look like the rest of us. So don’t count yourself out just because you don’t look like a model.

I can’t stress enough how much grades matter for 1st round cuts. The better houses won’t take a grade or reputation risk regardless of how pretty she is.

What a snob! "Better" houses have higher gpa?

If better means it is like living at home with your parents - then ok.

Not a snob just telling it like it is. With so many PNMs, houses have to have a way to make cuts. Unless a girl has great connections (think KKG and KD), grades are the first criteria used for cuts by all the top houses.

So what you are saying is that the more social houses are not "top".

That is wrong.

Sororities are not academic clubs. Ok - well some apparently are (agd, piphi, adpi).

All of the houses are social. Top houses don’t take grade or reputation risks unless the PNM is well connected with great rec letters . The top academic houses do include those you list above and also AXO, XO, PM, and DDD. These houses will take grades, among other things, into consideration for 1st round cuts.
