PNMs: PLEASE keep an open mind
by: Open mindTo all you PNMs out there preparing for rush, please remember to keep an open mind. I really had my heart set on a couple of houses, and I didn’t get invited back to them for philanthropy. I was heartbroken. I wasn’t super into any of the houses I did get invited to, and I didn’t get invited back to that many. I stuck it out, kept an open mind, and ended up getting a bid from a house that was not initially on my radar. I have had the best experience possible in that house. I considered dropping after bid day, but I decided to stay with it and couldn’t be happier. I promise you will end up where you are meant to be!

When they say "trust the process" , it's true. When those 1st cuts happen, it's hard. You will see lots of tears or may be one of those crying girls. It is an emotional week - but worth it. My freshman roommate freaked out each round of cuts. She almost dropped before Bid Day. She stuck it through and is on her exec board and thriving and so happy.

PNMs need to remember that “top” chapters have a grades cut after open house. Some cut at 3.5, so don’t take it personally.
I don’t necessarily buy “trust the process,” because a lot about rush is who you know. However, if a chapter invites you back, remember that they saw something positive in you. Give them another chance to see something positive in them, too.
There are 3000 PNMs this year. Seriously, getting cut from a house is just not something to take personally with those numbers.

I never post on this stupid site. I'm a DG and my house is either completely ignored OR ranked mid/low. Guess what? It doesn't matter. I still get decked out to go to games with my sisters. We swap. I'm dating a fraternity guy and went to NOLA last year. I'm also still good friends with some of the girls from my dorm, including my roommate who is now in an OR house. I hope PNMs take this advice.

I thought there were 2,500 PNMs, not over 3,000? Did I miss an update in the total?
