I was already a wreck
by: Thanks...Geez....I am already a wreck about recruitment, then today I stumble across this page. I have basic social media,oos, no rush consultant. I have good grades and activities, but geez, after reading this site, I am so not ready.

Half the people on this page don’t even sound like they go to school here. You don’t need to worry. I went through last year without a consultant or connections and had a great rush. Be friendly, positive, have good conversation skills and look put together, but not overly fake. You’ll find the right house.

If you have good grades, take time to be put together every day, smile and make eye contact during convos, and keep an open mind, you’re doing all you can at this point.
Don’t listen to gossip on the row. EVERY house at Bama is good and can give you the sorority experience you’re hoping for.
Stay off TikTok. Save OOTDs in drafts and don’t post until after recruitment. Don’t give the houses any reason to think you could be a social media liability.

The majority of it is written by bored, weird, obsessed alums, moms, trolls or people who watch college girls on TikTok all day. It’s garbage.

I know how it feels to want as much info as possible, but it's nearly impossible to get objective information from websites - and even social media (bc houses are going to want to showcase their best side)
If you want to learn about the sororities values, history and philanthropy, you can check out the website for the national organizations.
But in terms of where you'll feel most "at home", you'll only find that out during recruitment week when you get the chance to visit all the houses in person. It's crazy and busy but you really do get a sense of the houses (esp during sisterhood round) and you'll notice that in some houses you just feel more comfortable, conversations flow easily, etc.
Best advice is to relax, have fun, and trust your instincts not what other people say! Remember: all of the houses here are good. All of them do swaps, are involved on campus to varying degrees and will give you a great experience.

I loved the houses I went to pref for. The sisters I talked to were so genuine and I was very into their philanthropies. I would’ve been happy in either house. Right before bid day is when I discovered this website, and I was so crushed and confused to see both of my pref houses get absolutely ripped apart on this website and have a “weird girl” stereotype. I ended up loving the house I got a bid from, and all I can say is thank god I didn’t let this website deter me in the end. You’ll have a great rush! Don’t worry about rankings!

You will be fine. EVERY house here is good and will give you an opportunity to meet lifetime besties, meet fraternity guys, go to fun sisterhood events, attend themed swaps and got to formals. Every house here does ALL of those things. Relax. Be yourself. Be excited for the houses that invite you back knowing that they saw something in you that they want. Rank the houses YOU felt most comfortable and welcome in. And, keep in mind, rush is 4 short parties so if you get a Bid from a house that you didn't fall in love with, that is ok, if you give it a chance, it may be exactly where you belong. I was not thrilled with the house I got a bid from but now I LOVE it and my sisters. I can't imagine myself anywhere else.

^ Yes I was cut by Round 2 from the “big GPA” sororities like AXO and AGD.
But I had went in with 3 sororities in mind from the beginning that I really wanted and ended Pref with 2 out of the 3 sororities I wanted so I would call it successful for me.
I also did no chapter research beforehand (like I didn’t look into campus reputations or even know GreekRank existed) at all other than looking at the nationals websites, reading about their philanthropies, and seeing what I thought I would resonate with most. I really didn’t even know how rush worked honestly and registered very late lol so you’re probably already more prepared than I was!
