by: Local...To the incoming gals...for most of OR..AXO, AGD, KAPPA, KD, and XO, most of their incoming class list is already made. It is what it is and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

As someone who is one of these houses they is not true. For KD and KKG, maybe yeah. But AXO and XO only have a few girls they know they really want!!! Outside of those girls (who won’t all go those houses, opening more spots) there are LOTS of spots open for other girls

I rushed last year, came from out of state and had never met anyone at the school. I was hoping for old row, put Kappa, AXO, DDD, AGD and KD at the top of my rankings and I kept those houses throughout the week and ended up preffing AXO and Kappa. I’m glad I had never heard of this site and didn’t go into rush thinking I didn’t have a chance with these houses. It’s hard to believe these houses had me on a list before rush because no one had ever even met me.

There are "filler spots"...my bf (out of state) is Kappa. She only has a handful of friends. She said most of the local girls stick together as if she doesn't exist.

AGD and AXO has most of their class list filled. There are always a few out of state girls they will take. It is like 13th grade for a lot of these girls. A lot of legacies, classmates, camp and cheer girls that grew up together. Don't get hung up on it - just keep in mind. Be open to all houses.
It just stinks that all of these people label things as "Old Row is superior." All houses have great girls.

The thing about AXO, Alpha Gam (& KD most of all) is that they want members who will stay invested in the chapter after graduation. They want sisters who will serve as advisors, hold alumni events, help the chapter and DONATE money/time. Members with ties to Alabama (or the south) are more likely to do that.
It’s not anything against the outstanding PNMs who come from OOS/OOR, but it’s just the way things go with these chapters.

I understand the explanation- they want local girls to continue their philanthropy, event etc. They taken care of their own and I get it. I absolutely loved AXO and Kappa - they were my top two favorites. I felt I made connections too - I had the 4.4 GPA, looks, involvement and I was dropped before philanthropy round by both. It's confusing yes...I have made good friends in my house- but best advice is to not get your heart set on a house.

I got cut from XO, AGD, KD and PM before Philanthropy (got cut from ZTA too) but I did get invited back to DDD, KKG and AXO, and AXO kept me through pref! I'm from far OOS and didn't have any connections. I had great grades and involvement, and I made really good connections at all of those houses during Philanthropy and Sisterhood.
All to say: you may get cut from some OR houses early but you might also be surprised where you end up getting invited AND having a great experience!

Best advice on here. Be open to all the houses. If you focus on the above, there are a lot of tears. It is what it is...these girls have all grown up with one another - they pretty mich know which house they will have.
