UGA is just copying Bama. Bama actually has an historical context. Old Row is where the six original fraternities had their houses. Newer fraternities starting building elsewhere so that was called New Row. There were actual, physical rows of houses. It never meant anything about quality or exclusiveness because Greek life was a more exclusive thing for all members, and it never ever applied to sororities. People just copy the term Old Row because of some imagined cache.
