Actives who rushed without connections…

I didn't know a soul. I had a full card each round but was cut at the end by my favorite two houses (AXO and Kappa). Pref was two NR houses. Made a handful of friends in my house. Think the other house however would have been a better match for me. Should have been more of my true self.

I’m OOR with a 3.89 GPA, had letter of recs for each house but didn’t know any Actives personally. I was super involved in sports and clubs. I didn’t know anything about any of the houses.
I had a fairly full card all week and a great week. I was dropped from most of OR after the first round (KD, KKG, DDD, XO) and from AXO after second round. I went to Pref at PM and my current NR house. I liked the house I’m in more than PM and ranked them that way. I got the bid I wanted and have had a great year. My house and friends are the best and I’m in a house that is often ranked mid on GR. The ranks on GR are crap.
You will be fine. Be yourself and ignore all the tent talk. I was so happy I had no idea about any of the houses because I had no preconceived opinions. The ranks don’t mean anything if you end up in a house where you can’t find your people or don’t feel welcome.

I posted this recently elsewhere but I had similar stats to the second person who responded. I had really good grades and strong involvement in high school. Because of my major, I wanted a house that would give me a chance to focus on leadership, campus involvement and academics.

I was immediately cut from XO, PM, AGD, KD and ZTA. For sisterhood I went to AXO, DDD, KKG from OR and PiPhi, Theta, APhi and DG from NR.

Got invited back to all of them except KKG for pref. Ended up in the house I liked the best during sisterhood round.

FYI, I think one of the reasons that AXO was a good match for me during recruitment is that I have a personal connection to the issue of domestic violence, and volunteered at a shelter in high school. That's AXO's philanthropy. So I would definitely suggest that if you do any volunteering, talk about that during rush, especially if it's an issue that is important to you.

You'll do great! Just don't worry too much.

I came from out of state, but in region. I didn't know a single person, no one else from my high school went to Bama. I had a full card every round, including most of OR, preffed AXO/KKG. I love my house and have met lots of great girls, many others from out of state. Just stay positive, be your true self and let the process work to find your best fit. There are a lot of great houses, not just the ones you see ranked high on this site!

I only had a connection at Zeta and Gamma Phi Beta, but I knew those girls’ reps from high school so I didn’t want either of those houses.

I was dropped by KKG, DDD, AXO, AGD, and AOPi (random, I know).

I pledged an OR house this site claims only takes Alabama girls, but I’m from an Atlanta suburb. I did have a really high GPA and was on homecoming court and senior class officer. I also had done volunteer work and was president of some clubs in high school. \n\n\n\n\n

No connections! I did have recs. I went down to 8 first round . It was 2020 so SDT was part of formal recruitment that year. Second round still had 8. Preffed my top 2. Got the house I wanted going into it. Here were the 8 PM, ZTA, DZ, GPhi, SDT, DDD, ADII and SK. Now as a senior the only other house I could see myself in is XO. Love my friends from that chapter. It is also funny the talk about that OR Frats don't mix with NR girls because how to you think I met the XO's ?? At date parties with OR.
in fact in the 3 years I have been here I have only been to OR date parties and formals.

I also want to add Alpha Phi dirty rushed me the entire summer before recruitment and dropped me first round. So I thought it was really funny when my roommate and a few other girls in TUT got a snap bid from them on Sunday morning!! They also attend OR date parties!!
