PNM Video Submission

Hi. I'm an incoming freshman PNM. I finally submitted my 1 minute video, and now I'm second-guessing myself for not using a filter because my 3 suitemates all said they used one.
So, I guess my question is, do sororities make cuts or add PNMs to interest lists based on these videos? Is it good or bad to use a filter, or does it not matter?

From my house's perspective, we are looking at grades, resume and connections first, and video second. If your grades and resume etc get you past round 1 to philanthropy, and then you show up looking nothing like your filtered video, we are not going to rank you highly. That is only my/my house's take. Nobody cares about your video after that. Impress us in person. Please.

We don’t watch all the videos. We make grade cuts and have a list of PNMs we are interested in. If you aren’t on the list, we don’t spend any meaningful time looking at your video.
Using too many filters isn’t a good thing. It’s obvious and if used to the extreme, makes us wonder what you really look like.

How do u have a list of pnms ur interested in? By like application sumbissions or social media?

By registration materials regarding involvement, letters of recommendation, connections with Actives in the house, social media, etc. Each house has different criteria of what strengths they are looking for in new members. If my house is not following you on Instagram, its unlikely you are on our list, TBH.

Yes, from resume or social media depending on the sorority but also from connections.

Not sure what house “A lot of criteria” is in but PNMs: do no stress out about if a chapter insta is following you or not. Just checked and this one PNM my house is in love with is not followed by our instagram. It doesn’t mean much, plus chapter instas can’t follow pnms after may 1 and there’s girls we add to our interest lists after then due to their resumes/letters of rec etc!! Please don’t stress and trust the process!

Depends on the house on whether your video gets watched. My house watches every video of the PNM's that make our grade cut-off, are recommended by an active, or have caught our recruitment team's eye. We watch a lot of them, but not all of them - especially if the PNM's GPA is below a 3.8.

It depends on the house. My NR house watches every video. We divide up in groups so at least 4-5 Actives are watching a PNM video. We would never be able to have all the Actives watch all the videos so no house does that.

Yep, if you don't make the grade cut and aren't otherwise flagged as someone we are interested in, we don't watch your video. Its not personal. We just need to release 1,000+ PNMs after first round so it makes no sense to spend time watching a video of those PNMs. A good video would NEVER overcome bad grades.
