A few questions about first semester

by:

Im FAR OOS

1. How often do people go home or visit friends on away game weekends? Obviously I plan to do the whole game day thing. But do sororities have mandatory events every weekend?

2. Ive had a job since I was 15. How many girls work during their NM period? Im talking like 2-3 shifts a week.

3. I really wanted to be in Tut but Im in a suite style dorm. How will this effect me socially?

4. I have 2 small and cute tattoos. One on the back of my neck and another on my foot. Should I try to cover them up?

#1) I went home at Thanksgiving and Christmas Freshman year. My parents and one sibling flew out over family weekend ( kind of boring, but easy to get game tickets). I went to friends over Halloween weekend.

#2) I don’t work except summer breaks, but my best friend did starting Spring semester. She is a 4.0 and has never had any issues.

#3) Tut is where it’s at. As long as you have friends in Tut, you will be ok. But, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had friends crash at my place because Pres is “too far”.

#4) I don’t have tattoos and I don’t care much about them. Others will think they’re cool or very tacky. What you might think are cute tattoos others will think are not. I would cover them if they don’t fit your outfit. Otherwise, if they mean a lot to you, wear them out.

1. Im from Chicago so I only went home for thanksgiving. I went to Atlanta with my best friend to see her boyfriend at GT. Thats it. Youll want to stay on campus more your freshman fall. Later semesters you will travel more with friends.

2. Dont even try there is too much else going on. Plus youll never find a job flexible enough to do everything else.

3. I lived in prez and honestly was never there except to sleep and during the weekend I usually would crash at tut or my boyfriends frat house. Sophomore year my little stayed with me at least one night a weekend.

4. Honestly you are fine unless you wanna go agd/axo

5. You are stressing too much. Youll get a bid and have fun.

I’m OOR too:

1. During freshman year, I went home for Thanksgiving, winter break, and spring break. For sophomore year, I went home for Thanksgiving, spent half of winter break at home and then flew to my boyfriend’s house, and for spring break went to the beach with my boyfriend and his friends. My parents visit me one time in the Fall and for my sorority parents weekend in February.

2. Weirdly, finding a job on campus is tough. I’d wait for 2nd semester to do that- the Fall is busy with new member stuff, football games, homecoming…plus, some hard college weed out classes for many majors.

3. I lived in the Honors dorm. I was glad to have my own room and a private bathroom. It was nice to have a quiet place to study and actually get sleep. All my friends were my new sisters and we all lived in different dorms.

4. My house wouldn’t care about cute, discreetly placed tattoos. I can’t imagine anyone would think it’s a big deal.

Good luck!!

Are we the same person?

I live in GA right near the stateline and only went home once a month/6 weeks JUST to work all weekend. Its a fine dining restaurant and I easily pull $750-1000. I basically have to work if I want extra spending money. I also uber eats or instacart from time to time. Trust me you will appreciate living in prez but you do need to put in extra social effort. I have a very meaningful smallish tattoo on my collarbone and did just fine. I dont care if anyone has an opinion abt it.

1. Usually just for thanksgiving, my nm period was really busy w a swap every week, date parties every month, getting invited to date parties, and different sisterhood events that I wouldn't recommend it more than that. As a caveat, I would totally recommend going to away games if any of your friends are going to the schools we're playing.

2. I would just focus on school your first semester, you certainly can work, but I noticed the girls who worked didn't get as close with the rest of our pc because they missed different events bc they had a tighter schedule. They also seemed overwhelmed by balancing school/ events/ work.
3. New tut is awesome, but this shouldn't affect you too much, except you're probably going to have to drive to chapter.

4. Yes! Most people won't care once your an active but they don't give you a good first impression.
