Negative TikTok content

by:

See lots of content discussing the not so shiny experiences from actives who deactivated, even from houses I wouldn’t expect, like AXO. How do PNMs view this content? Does if affect their impression of a chapter?

I like to draw conclusions through my own experiences. I believe it depends on the kind of person you are. Some believe what they see and hear and others do not.

The videos aren’t that negative. She was asked to submit her YouTube for review first, asked to take down Tik Toks made during Rush because they went viral and she said they wanted her to post more on Instagram but not the others. She said something about someone making her cry, not liking living in the sorority and she decided to quit the house and she was still responsible for paying her room. She doesn’t say anything bad about the girls really. She hated pomping and didn’t like having to contribute to the philanthropy.

Sounds like she wanted to be an influencer and is upset AXO wouldn’t let her use their brand to build her status. So she’s doing it now on the heels of the the Bama rush documentary.
But nothing she is saying makes AXO sound bad. Everyone knows Old Row doesn’t like influencers.

KD is much worse

On Instagram they have this account called "Lenora Ashmore". Whenever a member posts something "inappropriate" lenora comments "..." under their picture and they have to delete it. Inappropriate can refer to both showing too much skin or pictures with alcohol underage. Lenora's account is run by exec and exec is almost always full of the cliquey mean girls who show favoritism towards their friends. Girls from far out of state they're not friends with will get ... for the smallest things - like a glass of champagne on Christmas. Their friends can be drinking wine by the bottle and post bikini pictures all they want without getting in trouble.

All of old row has the same rules for social media use and they are not going to want you if you’re a big influencer type. The fact that there were girls from XO and PM in the HBO doc is just going to mean more restrictions.

If you want to be an influencer at Bama you’re better off in a New Row house like PBP Zeta DZ or ADPi.

Thanks but I don’t want to be in a house of influencers filming everything I do for their Tik Toks. I’d rather be Old Row and have some privacy from those types!!

She basically says they were okay with her YouTube videos but she had to send them for a review by a member first and she said that took too long, said they didn’t like her Tik Toks that went viral and asked her to take them down and then when she decided to leave the house they didn’t refund her portion for the rent or something. Which kinda makes sense because rent is a contract and everyone would have already had their living arrangements at that point so. Idk. She complained in others about the food and that she has allergies and basically said she didn’t like living in house well if you didn’t like living in the house sophomore year why did you decide to stay another year? Makes no sense.

I always thought her videos were kinda boring. Also she decided to leave it’s not like they kicked her out. There was an older girl before her who did YouTube and filmed stuff about AXO. I remember her bc her freshman tut roommate went AGD and she was AXO. They didn’t do anything mean to her? She seemed fine.

I think AXO likes staying off the map. They didn’t let the bachelorette girl film either and shut the producers out. They’re pretty consistent about being quiet. Seems to me they asked her to take things down and she left.

AXO and AGD have RIDICULOUS rules. Girls are over it...good for Maddie for being transparent.

By: Yup yup
by: Right

She posted the entire year on YouTube that she lived in the house, sorry I don’t see how they had rules that were restrictive. She complains she had to contribute to the philanthropy, that she had to pomp, that she didn’t like work week and didn’t like living in a sorority house. Maybe she just wasn’t a good fit. Anyway she doesn’t seem positive about any sorority or Greek life in general.

This has nothing to do with AGD but people just keep lumping them in there anyway for some reason. It sounds like someone chose their social media over their sorority. In related news the sky is blue and milk is dairy.

Every single house has former members posting something negative-tbh I don’t think pnms really care 🤷‍♀️

By: whatever
by: Yes

Yes, we do.

Not like I have aspirations to be Tik Tok famous, but being in a sorority will hopefully be a huge and wonderful part of my college experience. But I can’t post anything without my sorority approving it or even mention my sorority?

Which sororities do not have these ridiculous rules??? Those are the ones I want.

No one is going to tell me that all these houses don’t have a long list of rules as soon as you join. What’s with girls wanting to use their sororities as platforms though. Imagine how they would take it if someone wanted to use them and put videos and stuff out with their face on it and give them no say- just hey I’m gonna make videos and put your name on it without you having any control in how I make you look…

That’s what girls are doing to their sororities when they do videos with the sorority in them, but don’t let the sorority check it first to make sure it’s appropriate.

Maybe I should make a bunch of videos with Maddison’s name all over it and her face on it. I’m sure she’d be comfortable with that.

These Greek organizations have been around a long time. You don’t own them. You can’t just make content and put their brand on them so you get more views. It doesn’t work that way.

Every sorority has rules about posting with their letters. She was wanting to use Bama and AXO to build her brand.
I follow an AXO with a largish following who posts all the time, she just doesn’t use AXO in her posts. But over sb, she posted a bunch of content of her and her friends partying in Miami.

No sorority does that. The ones that have guidelines are usually regarding posting during Rush or posting on YouTube. But the lower tier houses generally don’t care.

But pnms don’t get to choose their houses, generally the houses get to decide who they want and yes Old Row does not really like clout chasing and influencing. This isn’t news.

It sounds like AXO owns you when you join. The fact that a exec board has to "approve" your social media is ridiculous. It's 2023.

I didn’t get that at all. There were other girls who did YouTube in AXO and they didn’t have problems. Maddison seemed to complain about Greek Life in general- the costs and everything. And they didn’t restrict her from doing anything because she clearly posted on both YouTube and Tik Tok throughout.

The only chapter I have heard does restrict listing is Kappa Delta. They have an account called Lenora Ashmore that has to follow everything that you do online for social media and will leave a “.” on anything they don’t approve of. That to me sounds much worse?

Kappa Delta and Kappa Kappa Gamma are much worse than AXO for restricting use of social media.

If you want full freedom though just choose a bottom tier house and you’ll be set. Lower tier houses can’t even enforce any of their rules because so many people leave.

by: Is it true

Is it true KKG won’t even let their girls out their letters on their Instagram bios? That’s controlling. I’ve never seen a single KKG YouTube video either- and not one for KD. Come to think of it, nothing for XO or AGD either. I have seen YouTubers from AXO. So they can’t be the most strict?

This girl sounds whiny and like she’s trying to just get more views and likes.

Don't be ridiculous, it has always been this way, social media or not. Members have always been expected to not go around saying questionable or negative things about any sorority or member, especially their own.

Members caught badmouthing get brought to standards. If a member is writing something that mentions her sorority, or speaking somewhere as a sorority member, she must run it by exec/standards first. Social media is just an extension of that. There are certain activities that you can't participate in wearing your letters. The rules are clear and presented immediately after joining. That's why every sorority has a Standards Board.

Look, you can do whatever you want on your own as an independent. But if you want the benefits of association with an organization that has a great rep, you are expected to do your part as a member to maintain the standard and follow the rules that are in place.
