Does it show a great recruitment program for Old Row, or rather, generational privilege that comes from being Old Row?

By: Does it really though?
by: Member selection

It shows different criteria for member selection. The houses on top of this list are well known for being selective on grades, reputation and involvement. The types of girls who put in a lot of effort in life in general tend to be the same types who get involved in the sorority and stick to their commitment for four years.

KKG is involved? When did this happen?

Its speaks more to generational bias. Most PNMs are still Southern so they have grandmas, mamas, aunts, cousins and older sisters that also went to Bama and where in sororities...likely, OR sororities because they have been on campus the longest. Of course Southern PNMs are going to have a bias in favor of OR houses because its the houses they are already the most familiar with. Everyone in my family was in the same OR house, of course it was the house I wanted to be in and their recruitment had nothing to do with that.

If NR houses are gaining in popularity, two things are likely happening: 1. they are putting on a very strong recruitment, and 2. the demographic of PNMs is changing so more and more OOR girls are going through recruitment with no bias and an open mind.

To say that KKG or AXO put on a much better recruitment than PiPhi or other rising NR houses is a lie. Every house on this campus is at the top of their recruitment game.

I'm OR and just trying to be fair about this. NR has a harder time attracting Southern PNMs.

I would venture to guess that one discrepancy between the top 7 and the others in numbers is that the 7 sororities are known for taking more southern girls, while the other houses take more out of state and out of region girls. These out of state/out of region girls may become homesick or decide they don’t fit with the Bama culture and decide not to return to Bama hence the 30 or so less members than the 7 at the top.

This OR/NR is bs. Some insecure sororities chanting “ Save your Dixie cups, the South shall rise again!” This is 2023, sororities are integrated, diverse, inclusive, yes, lesbians! And thank you, Kappa, trans women. Pi Phi is deserving of recognition as a ‘top tier’ sorority. The ‘lower tier’ groups deserve recognition as ‘top tier’ for their GPA over the ‘top tier’ houses at the lower end.
Also, what was every groups TOTAL HOUSE NUMBERS with these numbers. This shows RENTENTION!

Why are some sororities so proud to be only inbred Alabama families? True sophistication, intelligence, and elegance comes from broader, evolved experiences! I had invitations to houses that wanted local girls only (I’m one) and they were the most insipid and self-serving convos I could endure. I’m thrilled to be in a sorority that welcomes elevated experiences over stagnant, sanctimonious sameness. Oh, hit me with, “Sorry we dropped you!” 🤦‍♀️😂🤣 to prove my point!

Top number is only 15 more than the 8th sorority. With over 425 members the difference is blah. Get over yourselves.

I know. The difference in numbers is laughable and isn't news. I also feel the same way when house GPAs are discussed because the differences are so marginal.

Of course OR will have the highest numbers. If those girls drop, what the heck else are they going to do when they go home to small town Alabama!?

location and age of a chapter automatically making it ‘top tier’ is such BS! Shows the little minds of the vacant small town sheep.
