Can y’all just chill?

by:

I’m speaking on behalf of the rest of the country’s Greek systems. A lot of universities have very healthy and thriving Greek Life. There are outside forces trying to take down an institution that has helped shape and influence, in very positive ways, men and women. The antics of The University of Alabama Greek Life, along with The Machine that has far-reaching tentacles, will help these forces, albeit a small minority of the population, take down this American institution. Stop making Greek Life look shallow and frivolous. For the most part, it is not. Your approach is embarrassing to Greek Life across the country. Or is that your real intent- to make Greek Life look ridiculous so everyone will turn against it and cancel it? Hmmmmm

Bama has the most thriving and largest Greek system in the country.

As such WE have become the target of the "cancellers" you reference.

You should get with and behind us, and not join them!

So, at your campus, PNMs are judged 100% on their character? Do you allow anyone to join who is interested? You don’t score and cut PNMs? Do you have dues? Exclusive events?

Face facts: all NPC sororities (even the one you’re in, on your campus) are primarily social organizations based around the traditional white upper middle class female experience. Your organization isn’t exempt from the questionable history because, according to you, you’re “not like those other sororities.”

Alabama is actually reviving interest in Greek life. The sororities at Alabama make an effort (for the most part) to judge the PNM on her character, accomplishments, academics and looks and finances. They look for well rounded women. It’s not a bad example of the greek system. There are worse ones.

Don't be so gullible. Social media is a skewed keyhole and not real life; nobody wanted HBO to come here and every house fought it; do you really need that pointed out? Bama Greek life is NOT the problem. There are no "antics" going on that are different from your own Greek life. There is no "approach" here that is any different from another campus other than the large scale. And the machine actually has no influence over anything outside of Bama Greek life (despite what popular opinion states because people love a conspiracy theory). If you are actually in Greek life and understand the positives and don't want these "forces" undermining what is a positive and meaningful experience for thousands of college students every year everywhere, then buying into the OUTSIDERS' BULL$HIT and piling on in perpetrating their agenda is just plain wrong of you. They want to tear your Greek life down too. Don't add to the problem.

The entire faculty and administration at Alabama is known to be some of the most liberal minded in the college world. Liberals hate anything that has “exclusivity” to it. Their goal is to dismantle all Greek Life in American universities. Why not start at the largest Greek life in our country, Alabama? This show will put Alabama in a bad light snd cause an uproar. This will fuel the fire to drop Greek life there. That will lead other universities to do the same. Wake up.

Alabama has a very fair mix of liberal and conservative professors.
You would know that if you actually went to school here.

Maybe y’all need to work on your marketing approach for your Greek system and your faculty. The whole country has the perception that your university is extremely liberal. Your graduates from out of state (which you guys love) go back home and tell everyone else how backwards their colleges are because they were “woke” at Bama. This is a public forum. HBO has made public how Greek life is run, now you want to tell anyone that comments that their perception is not accurate because they formed an opinion after a documentary. Maybe y’all need to watch what is made public on social media.

You mention faculty and administration, which I absolutely grant you, but you fail to account for donors and the UA System Board of Directors. They are pro-Greek. Alabama is quite possibly the last place Greek Life could fall. Now, of course, its essence is being sapped, but that's been a nationwide trend since the '90s. It would damn near take a reprise appearance of the National Guard to shut things down for good. And what would be made of University Boulevard?

The only problem with UA greek life is that its in Alabama. Sorry but Alabama is the most embarassing state. Always has been...always will be.

You are responding to a poorly produced, self-indulent show which had the depth of a Justin Bieber song.

THere has never been a fixed election. Non-greeks just do not regularly show up to vote.
