Nothing changes at bama. This is my last semester and every single year whenever I hear people's opinions on the sororities it's ALWAYS the same 3-4 top houses, same 2-3 bottom, same old debate of old vs new row, etc etc etc. When I was an underclassman I'd hear people talking about how "(bottom house X) got SUCH a great pc, they're really improving!" or "ugh how is (top old row house Y) still relevant to anyone but like the super southern mommies"
But even after YEARS of those same judgements and after YEARS of top houses stagnating and bottom houses doing fantastic, the common opinions on ranks are ALL THE SAME.
i swear, everyone talking about sorority ranks (online or in person) just like mentally copied and pasted some random post from 2018 greekrank.
Do we actually care about sisterhood, personality, academic achievement, looks, and clout? No! This school just cares about what's been happening for the past 15 years! Bama is just full of people whose mommies told them some sorority ranking from when THEY went to school or non-southerners who saw one greekrank post years ago and took it as law.
This culture is so unsustainable. We need to care about what makes a sorority TRULY GREAT instead of rumors from years ago!

Have you seen the Murdaugh’s documentary on Netflix.
It sums up “old row” mentality - minus the felonious crimes.
You’re either under that gravitational pull of home town influencers or you’re not.
Yes, that’s never going to change! The debate will go on, and has gone on, forever. It is hardly “unsustainable”.

Don't get upset when you come to the south because you want the "southern college experience" and then get mad when the southerners stick with the tradition of southern things. We do not go up north and out west and demand y'all change things. You also need to check the in state/out of state ratio of the houses you accuse of only taking in state girls - I think you will be surprised but you should not be - there can not be 450 girls per house that are all from the state of Alabama.

Honestly you can look back farther than 2018 to see that the ranks have essentially stayed the same. Any movement that’s occurred is within tiers, like how GPhi went from arguably the worst house to the top of the bottom regardless of how good their PCs are.
Same for the frats eg Phi Psi has gotten better every year since the new house but they’re still seen as the bottom of University and most likely always will. Same for Jefferson, regardless of how good Delta Chi becomes or whether or not they have better parties / guys than some university houses they will still be seen as a second tier house and struggle to swap with “better” sororities solely due to location. I guess we’ll see how the Kappa Sig move goes and if they magically become a “top new row house” in two years because of their location upgrade and legacy on campus
