uf phi mu transfer
by: nervyhi. i’m a freshman at uf. i’m from alabama and transferring to be closer to home. i’m in phi mu. would bama phi mu accept me? the transfer process is kind of confusing. to be honest we are considered bottom at uf and i know phi mu at bama is top top. i don’t want to get my feelings hurt but i love phi mu (liob!!) and don’t want to go alum while i’m still in college. advice please!

If you're from Alabama you should have contacts from high school to put you in touch with Phi Mu members. Friends of friends etc who would speak for you. But you do realize that girls who plan this out ahead of time (going to another school with the sole intent to transfer after rushing to join a chapter that is top at Bama) never succeed. This is what they will think you are doing. They won't care that UF is bottom but will only take you if they think you would be an asset to them on your own merit.

I am very sorry to hear about your Mom. Reach out to those you know. You will be fine, as you are currently a Gator. UF is an excellent school, VERY different from The University of Alabama. Phi Mu has a great sisterhood, and they will embrace you.

Contact your sorority and ask them the process. Every sorority has a process in place. You may want to check with nationals first, so they can get you in touch with the right people. The phi Mu website may even have the info there. Most sororities have a process where you are visiting member for a semester-you attend chapter, some sisterhood events, etc and then they decide to let you affiliate. Most houses do not have an issue with it and it is not like you’ll be the first person to ever do this. I wouldn’t worry about it all. I’m sure the process will go smoothly for you. I think you’ll love UA far more than UF. Welcome back.

Way to be kind to the OP, but at the same time put down UF. If you attend Bama you really have no clue what attending UF is like.

okay thank you! i know one girl who is in phi mu at bama and we were not close. she was in a different cloud, much more popular. but she did comment on my bid day post and was always nice. i think i’ll dm her. i did not plan this at all and i’m transferring because my mom has cancer. i hope if i tell them that they will know i’m genuine
