With a full ride for four years before going to med or law school? If you don't understand that you will never have any kind of wealth and are dumb as a stick.

Someone with generations of wealth would consider four years of tuition at a state university as a minor inconvenience. Also, someone headed to medical or law school would presumably have stats to get a full ride at a variety of places…making their decision as to where to attend based on prestige and reputation of the undergrad institution…and let’s face it…they will certainly have offers from schools that far outrank UA in that category.

Alabama is a 2nd tier state school with a decent football team. Doesn’t even rank in The top 100. Nothing remotely prestigious about attending here. Primarily back up school

Tell that to over 50% of the population of Bama that pay a hell lot more in tuition then in-state. There is a lot of wealth going to Bama.

“Generational wealth” will be there despite the school and amount spent, and comes without the need for “social climbing” and “showing off”.
Make of that comment what you will.
And, “old money” is certainly different from “taste”, fashion choices and even connections/power. Those can be more easily and quickly obtained.
These threads read like they are from people who read the “Preppy Handbook” or had their mother tell them about it.

It's true, the old money schools of the South are Vandy, SMU and Duke (excluding a few schools in Virginia as they may be too far North for y'all)

I know a lot of Zetas and Phi Mus with crazy ass credit card debt because they are pretending to be rich. I have no idea who they are fooling other than people following them on social media.
I'm OOR and my dad is lawyer and my mom is a surgeon so they do ok and I chose Bama because I'm a merit scholar and the school is paying me to attend every semester (I actually get a spending allowance in addition to full tuition, full housing stipend, books, etc.) I plan on going to med school so my parents will pay for that since they have paid nothing other than sorority fees for me so far. I'm in one of the upper middle class houses identified in this post. My parents won't buy me thousand dollar handbags or designer shoes to go to dank frat parties or to dance at Rounders because they aren't dumb asses.
Anyone paying full out-of-state tuition to go to UA is not rich...they are just stupid.

A freshman Zeta I know has so much debt that she has no idea cause parents hide it! She is from NJ like me and all she does is say how wonderful and great and amazing Bama is and how hard it is to get in. I have to laugh my ass off! It’s one of the easiest schools. That girls parents try to keep up with the wealth meanwhile they are drowning in debt. So that is fake money. Oh and dad has a low paying job that he is barely keeping.
