What is the six?
by: ConfusedSo this new term is for the best six sororities on the row, i have never heard it before. It is just old row, or zta and phi mu included? Who is this top six?

It’s the original 6 Old Row houses. Phi Mu was added to Old Row in the early 90s. Phi Mu is a great house and significantly better than their arch rival, Zeta. But not really considered a top 6 house.
The rest of Old Row is more well-rounded and not so focused on just looks. XO, DDD, KKG, KD, AXO, AGD.

PM is higher ranked than several in the “select 6” and at the same level as a few. No one wants to admit it but to a lesser degree Zeta is too and that’s why you see many posts about them this week. The weaker old row houses just started the term “select 6” to try to stay relevant but rush return numbers say otherwise. They can say it but it doesn’t make it true.

It’s the term your average MB mom and meemaw just invented for the houses they thought were “exclusive” in 1965 and 1985. Reality is several of these houses haven’t progressed since that time so they’ve fallen and are no longer considered top by today’s standards. Some make cuts during rush like they are still highly desired but then they have to take snap bids because most top PNM don’t choose them. Some on the list don’t care and some on the list actually try.
It is obvious when you go through rush who is truly top tier. No one needs to read creepy granny’s GR post to figure it out. Select 6 are not the top 6 in 2022.

@reality you don't know what you are talking about. houses that have to make deep cuts are houses that have high return rates and you don't know what those return rates are. they have to make the cuts because panhellenic makes them.

Those 6 and prob Phi Mu are looking for total package pnms so they are harder to get a bid from. Involvement, rep, grades, HS honors, classy looks, good recs (not PM for recs anymore). That's why they stay strong on campus, have good campus reps and don't lose members. Zeta is a good house but known for rushing for looks (hot and trendy) mostly so if pnms want that it's fine. OR houses don't obsess about OR. On GR it seems like NR obsesses about OR constantly.

Return rates don’t tell the whole story because they change up a little each year and some years more graduate early, etc but they are a good indication of strong sisterhood. If someone says a house has a bad sisterhood or girls hate it but they have are a top 3-4 return rate house, then probably the opposite is true.

There's also "Front Row" for AXO, Kappa, and Phi Mu and "Core Four" for XO, DDD, KD, and Kappa
