Rushing as international student

by: Danish girl

I’m a junior transferring into Bama, and I want to rush, but I am from Denmark and I have heard houses don’t take out of state girls, so I assume they will not even consider taking me? I am 21, blonde, & tall if that matters..

If any other international students have rushed, can you share your experience? And if you have rushed someone from outside of america, what can I do to stand out? Thank you so much

If what you have "heard" about Bama sororities comes off of this terrible site then heaven help you. A lot of stuff on here is unfactual and simply posted by people who have no sorority experience or knowledge whatsoever, but just like to engage in gossip and judgement. Your hair color and height is less important than other things, despite what you see on social media and this awful site. Sure, sororities value looks, who doesn't, but that's not the only thing they consider. Other personal qualities matter a lot - poise, confidence, personal style, conversation skills, good manners, and showing interest and positivity, plus a good GPA, resume, and recommendations all matter a great deal in making a good impression during recruitment. And it's not about being 'out of state' so much, it's about having connections within a sorority, which the in-state and other Southern state girls do have, and these connections are strongly considered and desired in some sororities, for freshmen pnm's. Recruitment is a bit different for a junior and more difficult as well. For a junior, connections are actually more important because she is far less desired due to her not being around as a sorority member for very long before she graduates. It helps if a junior has been attending Bama, because she has had a chance to make friends among sorority members during her time here, and there will be people in the chapters to support her for membership, especially if she has a great GPA and campus involvement. So for a junior transfer who has zero connections, it will be tough, but if you have high marks in the personal qualities you exhibit during recruitment, it could pull you through, and the fact that you are from another country will make you memorable. You should try recruitment and do your best and see what happens.

this clearly isn’t Danish girl. It that same sick person that’s been responding similar messages on other posts and now responding to himself as her. Good luck with recruitment!
