3.6 is safe - if a house that has a GPA requirement higher than that wants you - they know you're not a slacker with at least a 3.6.

Greek Chic isn’t accurate. It gives you the bare minimum a house can accept. It’s usually a 3.2 but there are only a 3-4 houses that will actually take a girl with a 3.2.

You really need a 3.7+ for a top house and a 3.5 for middle tier.

As the school.increase the # of Presidential scholars, it is getting so competitive - most girls have over a 4.0
You can still get Aphi, DG, and Kappa...maybe Zeta if you are hot and outgoing

Um...more like DDD or KKG if under 3.5...and there us
Zeta if you have the looks. DZ for a mid house. No other upper or upper mid with a lower GPA.

These are the average house GPA's from last semester. Greek chic gives you what they were last year:
AGD - 3.83
AXO - 3.77
XO - 3.71
ADPI - 3.61
PM - 3.59
DG - 3.58
PBP - 3.54
KD - 3.53
DZ - 3.51
AOPI - 3.51
DDD - 3.49
KKG - 3.47
KAO - 3.46
ZTA - 3.44
GPHI - 3.24
SK - 3.21
APHI - 3.14

Depending what your GPA is, this will give an idea of what your options will be...unless you are a cheerleader/Crimsonette.

What kind of pull do you think being a cheerleader or crimsonette has? Maybe being a Bama cheerleader has a little pull but I don’t think there are any crimsonettes in Old Row. That’s not their vibe.

No lower than a 3.5...for a "decent" house. These houses have the total package....except maybe DG. AGD's new social chair is really upping their game...

Houses that were snap bidding so called grade risk on Bid Day morning the past 2 years KD, Alpha Phi.

KD didn’t snap bid. A troll started that rumor.
Old Row doesn’t give snaps. They’d rather be under quota than give snaps.

Some strategy for pnms with a 3.0 to 3.4 gpa:

Get a letter of rec for every house and make sure it is someone that knows you well and will be kind and supportive to write it well. Recruitment is harsh about grade cutoffs, so realize you may only have a chance to meet 4 or 5 chapters and the rest will cut you for grades at philanthropy round. Get ahead of this and let it go. Focus completely on whatever chapters ask you back- they see something in you that they liked. All it takes is one.
Ranking chapters is strategic, so use this to your advantage to make it to pref round and not be released. Don’t waste your “1s” on a chapter where you have no letter of rec and you know they cut for grades well above where you are at. Rank those chapters lower and put the ones where you know someone, you have a letter of rec or you know they take girls with a lower gpa but have other great qualities. Your “1” ranking will help strengthen your chances of getting those chapters back and keep you in recruitment and prevent you from being released. Along with this, you need to absolutely ignore the tent talk. Recruitment at Bama is the Super Bowl of Sorority Rush and the lower tier houses here are stronger than the average chapters at most schools. They’re all “decent”.

if you have closer to a 3.0 you don't need to worry about getting so many houses back that you need to rank houses with grades last. if you have closer to a 3.4 you will still get houses back that have house average grades over a 3.4. if houses with grades invite you back they are interested. just rank as you want don't try to fool the system.

Would getting recs help you if you’re on the lower scale of their GPA?

You need rec letters regardless of your GPA. My house cuts you before Philanthropy if you don’t have at least one. A rec letter honestly just gets you past the first two rounds. After that it’s your personality and style that carry you the rest of the way.
