I think it should be clarified that there are a lot of out of state (OOS) girls that go through recruitment/ go to Bama. However, many of the OOS girls are from Southern states (Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas).

There is also a term widely used on GR and on campus and that is out-of-region (OOR) girls. These are the girls from non-Southern states (Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc.) The number of OOR girls going through recruitment increases every year so that is starting to change which sororities are preferred.

OR will say that they take a ton of OOS girls and that is true. They do take a lot of out of state girls from the Southern states. Some houses classify girls from Texas as being from a Southern state and others consider them OOR.

OR does not have a history of taking very many OOR girls. There are a ton of reasons for this including, the OR actives already have connections with a ton of in-state girls and girls from southern high schools and there is a perception that Southern girls are more likely to stay with the sorority (and pay dues) the full 4 years, etc. Because of this, some OR houses are nearly impossible to get a bid from as an OOR girl (generally, KD, Kappa, XO, PM, AXO, and to some extent, AGD). It makes sense, if your actives already know hundreds of girls from high school, bible camps, church groups, hometowns, etc., those will be the girls they are focused on. Because of the breadth of the connections, OOR girls are at a serious disadvantage compared to in-state and girls from Southern states.

Most OOR girls end up in NR houses... which on this campus are just as good and fun as the OR houses. The only downside of being in NR is that they almost never swap with the 2-3 OR frats that are almost exclusive to in-state guys.

Majority of those “exclusive“ fraternity boys are not attractive Chads that gain more than the freshmen 15 within the first year.

ranks are made majority of the time by old alumni who claim "old row" is still important when students literally could care less lol. Instead of how social a sorority is and what houses are actually popular old row defenders claim that because these houses have this retention rate, this gpa, or this many girls that are involved that makes their house better and it is just not true. These are SOCIAL organizations, not honor societies. So I would literally ignore ranks especially ones where only "old row" houses are top because if you go here you know a house like chi o for example is NOT top

^^ this! ^^

Old Row has great houses, but they're not all great. Don't believe the hype of Old Row - Nobody cares except for Alabama girls who have been brainwashed by their mothers since birth.
