Rush Coaches? Worth it?
by: pnmI've seen some ads for rush consultants on Instagram, but what do they even do? Are they worth the money?

If you are not from the south, it might be helpful to get one that is based in alabama or Mississippi or another Deep South state. Try to get one that has a middle aged women in charge who can help you get recs. Don’t waste your money on someone that doesn’t have a connection to Alabama rush though. But, honestly you should take whatever coaching you can get. These girls from Birmingham have been coached their whole life so if you want an old row house, practicing wouldn’t hurt

But a coach can help you with talking to people. This is a good investment outside of recruitment because it can help with confidence in interviews. Unless you are a naturally gifted conversationalist, I say it’s money well spent.

I do believe rush coaches are worth it considering more than 95% of their girls go old row/zeta/pi phi. Rush coaches vouch excellent when it comes to recommendations and can get your name positively out there. I’ve seen girl with not so great personalities get into top house from rush coaches just because they went through the program. They only way you wouldn’t benefit from a rush coach is if you have poor grades, struggling social skills, terrible reputation, and/or below average looks.

The only girls who would use rush couch’s are the extremely southern girls who would go chi axo phi kkg kd and agd never heard of a new row girl using them

No "extremely Southern girl" hires a rush coach. These girls have learned from their parents and grandparents and their families' lively and active social circles how to navigate polite society from the time they were old enough to talk. Good manners, confidence, appropriateness, being polite and respectful, and feeling at ease in any social situation is not a one-off for sorority recruitment, it's part of being raised as a decent human being. Many boys and girls take cotillion classes in middle school. And this is not just in the South but in other areas as well. But I think most people know a bit about these things, for crying out loud, and their relative inexperience and insecurities just get to them and they project it into rush.

cont. some people can get into harvard fine but others need guidance. apply the same principle with phi mu or whatever sorority you’re aiming at.

No coach can suddenly transform where you grew up, what high school you attended, or how many girls in the house know you personally. If you are OOR, this will NOT help you get into OR...and to be honest, why would you even want OR? You will be a ninja/filler/outsider in OR even if you can get a bid.
