Snap bids? Who is eligible

by: Confused

Ok so I know what they are but who can get them. My question is based off another post. Say I'm dropped by pref... I know I could maybe get one, well at least be eligible. What if I don't like my pref houses and drop on my own??

Anyone who participates in at least the first round is eligible for a snap bid whether they drop or are dropped. But the likelihood of getting a snap bid from a house you like better is very, very, very low. There are not that many snap bids given out and the houses that snap bid the most are the ones that are not as strong at recruiting anyway. Holding out for a snap could sometimes have a happy ending, but very rarely, so it's not a good strategy and if you try it the odds are against you getting any house and you would be left out of Greek Life. Pref can sometimes be a game changer for pnm's who don't think they can see themselves in a certain house. Give your pref houses a chance. Then, if you attend pref and really aren't feeling it at all, don't put them on your card because then you are committed for an entire year.
