Rushing as a sophomore
by: sophI'm a current freshman and at the moment I'm planning to go to formal recruitment as a sophomore. I know a lot of houses are focused on recruiting freshman so is it worth it to rush as a sophomore? Any advice on how to approach this process?

Being known and liked by actives in chapters will help you a lot. You know actives through classes, dorm, clubs or activities, friends of friends including guys. Reach out to these members and tell them you are going to rush so they will have you on their radar and can start talking you up in their houses. Freshman grades count for a bunch too. There is a separate quota for upperclassmen so you won't be competing against freshmen for spots. Do it!

i rushed as a sophomore! i knew very few people in sororities and i honestly didn't even know much about each house individually, but none of that really mattered during rush. i went into it with no expectations and i'm happy with where i ended up! also, if this helps to make you feel less worried, there are separate quotas for freshmen and upperclassmen, so you won't be competing as much with the freshmen who are rushing. it's absolutely possible to end up somewhere great as a sophomore, and i don't think you have anything to worry about!

I rushed as a sophomore and had full schedules almost every round, so you can still be invited to a lot of houses!!! I also didn’t know anyone in sororities. Rush wasn’t that bad because it was able to drive there, and I didn’t have to sit on the row all day. I would join the rush groupme and get to know some incoming freshmen as well!
