Living in house

by:

How does it work here? I'm far out of state, most of the girls I know who are in sororities in my region have an obligation to live inhouse until the spots are filled. With the insanely large chapters here/ gorgeous houses, is anyone forced or is it more of a privallage? I'd really really want to live in house my sophomore year or longer. (parents are SUPER strict, as in my first 2 years I have to live in a dorm or sorority house). If you hold a position, you have to live in right?

1. There are way more girls who want to live in house than spots. Different houses do prioritize differently.
2. Being on eBoard will most likely always get you a spot
3. My parents were the same way! staying out of trouble, making great grades and proving to them that I would have to room with strangers instead of ANY of my friends pushed them. (Also it can be much cheaper to live of campus)

Another question do you feel comfortable to live with ~60 girls and having no safe space for yourself? You will be 24/7 under observation. I hope you like that and that you will bloom. I couldn’t stand the whole pressure and decided to be active in my sorority while living on my own. But that was just my decision and and I discussed my feelings with my parents. In the end they said do whatever is the best for you.

Needing a safe space from your house? That sounds awful and not anything like my experience living in the house.

Living in the house was great and I got to know the other girls I lived with so well and it made it easier to be involved with all the house activities. If you have the opportunity, I’d do it for a year.
