Seven thousand to ten thousand for the year. Freshmen year is the most expensive. They are published somewhere on the UA page.

Seems like you need to come from hella money and wealth to do Greek Life here which sucks for the ones who can’t afford it :/

Don't forget to budget for all of the formal wear and party clothes you will need. There are weekly events in most sororities.

I’m confused how girls in my area (sometimes two from the same family) that come from middle classes families go to Alabama and manage to afford these dues. Are they growing money on trees?!

This is actually what I think, it blows my mind. I come from upper middle class but idk it’s still so much money to wrap my mind around but that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know a girl who is oos and oor that was given a big scholarship to go to bama for probably almost a full ride so her fam pays her dues with all the money that they saved on tuition

I can see the dues not being a major expense if you’re on a scholarship but for those that aren’t 💀 good grief that’s so much on top of tuition especially if you’re OOS

Their parents probably started a 529 for them at a young age. Also their parents could’ve inherited money from their dead parents.

There are A LOT of wealthy families at this school. I do think money does grow on trees with some of these girls.

I’d budget $8-9k for freshman/pledge year. Freshman/pledges don’t live in the house but the fees include all your meals.

Also, buy stuff over the summer for all the football games, theme parties and formals. For football games, everyone dresses up and wears cute sundresses, skirts, blouses- red and houndstooth are a must.

Almost all the houses have similar themes for date parties so buy party/costume clothes for the following themes: disco, glow/neon, country, NASCAR/racing, 8O’s, 2-3 Halloween costumes, etc. For frat formals, buy at least one nice long, fitted dress. You can reuse all these party clothes in the future. I have a bin of stuff I’ve collected.

U can also borrow clothes from one of your 300-400 sisters usually too

It is on average around 9,000, depending on the sorority. Say what you want about borrowing, but most girls.dont.. I'm six foot tall, and never borrowed clothes. It is very expensive. Be aware of that.

I am on full scholarship - my parents made me pay half of my sorority fees for freshman year. I had to pay close to 5,000. I had some formal dresses at home that I brought with me. I wore all of those and probably bought about 3-4 more formal dresses. Clothes for game days, swaps, themed parties...plus there are some activities that aren't included in the dues. We also support fundraising activites that some of the other sorority houses have. Work all you can this summer if money is an issue.

I think that’s so awesome how you are able to pay for part of it instead of your parents fully funding your dues!

It's not uncommon for girls to do this or get a part time job for their spending money. Good for parents who encourage/insist on this.

It’s way more impressive if you are able to pay a bit of your dues rather than those who rely on mommy and daddy’s money to pay them

Anywhere between 6800 to 10,000 per year. But it includes meals...

I swear y’all worry about the dumbest things. This shows how privileged y’all are here because there are so many unfortunate people who can’t even afford basic life necessities such as food.

When you are paying 10 grand a year - some may want decent food. We do plenty to help the poor, homeless and those that have food insecurities. Stop judging things you know nothing about!

There is nothing wrong with wanting decent food when you eat all of your meals there...stop the shaming.
