The out of state students are smart enough to know that with their high HS gpa they can get a great scholarship at alabama and graduate with little debt.

I’M OOS and pay $4,000/year, I’m in the honors college and the STEM to MBA program. My sorority dues actually cost a lot more (about $8k) than anything else I’m paying each year. I will graduate with no debt and a BS degree and MBA. If you have a high ACT score and GPA, you’d be dumb not to attend this school and take all the scholarships and opportunities they throw at high achieving OOS students.

Most of the out of state students are on full scholarship or partial scholarship - that is part of the appeal. No other University offers the scholarships like UA. It actually cost much more to stay in state in states such as California, Florida, NY, Illinois and New Jersey. It has helped the rankings (educational rankings) for the school.

I'm from Illinois,on the Presidential scholarship, plus received another freshman scholarship. The only thing I pay for are my sorority dues.

Many come for the scholarship money, Greek life, and a different experience. There are countless unis to party at in the north, but they want the full experience Alabama offers. Most people know it's more important where your grad degree is from anyway.
