The Machine Doesn't Want to Be Inclusive
by: It's All Rigged
A lot of posts about NR v. OR, OOR girls vs. Southern girls and the lack of racial diversity. The Machine and its member sororities and fraternities who decide everything that is put up to a student vote has no desire to actually include outside groups (non-southern kids; non-white kids)in any of their decisions. OR (all OR sororities and fraternities are members of The Machine) isn't geographically or racially integrating because nobody wants outsiders in the school's or state's governing bodies or social positions (homecoming court, etc.). This is a very real thing at the U of AL and nobody here talks about it... because they are in a house that is a member of The Machine or they are alumni of such houses. A couple years back, The Machine got behind a racially diverse candidate for Student Government when they were getting blow back about racism. A couple of OR houses have even extended bids to racially diverse candidates for similar reasons but at the end of the day, The Machine has no interest in giving any meaningful roles to OOR or racially diverse students. Its the South ya'll.
Not all sororities and fraternities on campus are members of The Machine...just the ones that are repeatedly identified here as being "the top."

Turn it upside down.
Say no to supporting any organization that doesn’t welcome diversity in its actions.
Forget the words and the “we just elected this blonde to our diversity director position” posts in social media.
Turn it upside down.
Almost 2/3 of the student body is now from out of state.
Stop listening to the ranks and start making some change.
Start by putting Old Row where it belongs.
At the bottom.

Dude, go touch some grass and be in touch with the actual current affairs of this campus. The SGA President last year or the year before was a POC. Multiple people that the Machine selects are POC. All the machine is a group focused on the betterment of Greek life on campus. Stop trying to make this about race and again; go touch grass kid.

i mean its not a real sorority if you're looking for sisterhood. they're a house of BOYISH girls, most of whom arent really friends with eachother. they just associate with each other for the social networking and call themselves a OR or „fraternity“ or "sorority." they give the ONE chapter around the nation a bad name. and i say this as a member of ONE
