successful rush tips
by: pnmHi all, I'm going to be rushing in the fall but am oor so I don't have many connections. Besides keeping my grades high, what else can I do to get the most out of my rush week? Thanks :)

I know all the houses here are great and all have beautiful, smart and talented girls, that’s probably why it’s so intimidating. When should I start working on rec letters? What looks good on my social resume? Should I work on improving my Instagram? What do actives look for when deciding to invite back girls or drop them?

You need to relax. Be confident in yourself and stop worrying about every little thing. You received some great advice above. There is only so much you can do at this point. Your grades are your grades, whatever activities you have participated in are completed, and it is just time to be yourself and shine. A large portion of recruitment is out of your control. You just have to move through the process and make your decisions once your options are presented to you. Be positive!

Learn to have a conversation! Seriously.
In the end you have to talk to people and relate to many types. I believe many girls fail to miss this very important element and get lost in rec letters, resumes and “the look”.
If you are yourself things will fall into place.
Some aspects of the selection process you can’t control. If you’re a “circle” it’s going to be hard to get into the “square”house.
It drives me crazy when girls seemingly ask how can I “fake my way” into a certain house. You cant be their type for a few days of recruitment to “sneak” in and even if you could, why would you want that?
But if you take two girls with the same background and resume and one has a great recruitment and one that’s not so great, being able to talk, make conversations, communicate and relate to others is usually the HUGE differentiator.
Best of luck and relax. All the houses are great. Try to find the one for you.

I have a few questions I wonder about as a pnm.
Do houses already have a rough bid list even before recruitment begins?
Will super high grades and test scores help you at most houses or do only certain houses really care about grades?
What houses penalize you because you come from OOR?
What houses offer a bid more on looks than anything else?
What houses weight how much family money you have vs the person you are?
