DONT participate in Bama Rush TikTok

by:

A heads up to all the girls thinking it’s a good idea to do OOTD and all that again on tiktok next year…it’s a good way to get cut from sororities you otherwise would’ve had a chance at. We don’t want the national attention on our houses and you become a huge liability to give a bid to if you blow up. A lot of girls are not happy with the attention we are getting and just want a normal sorority life. Outsiders on tiktok opens up the door to a lot of things that we don’t want.

Time to reflect on this warning. Funny that a few pnms were crucified for doing OOTD and others were praised during recruitment. I could list examples, but what would that do? Complete double standard.

seriously there were def girls who benefited from posting about it this year so there is certainly a double standard here. maybe some houses avoid all girls with social media clout but there are definitely "viral girls" in each house

The only ones posting during or prior to rush are the ones who want to go viral and get famous. I think that a lot of girls keep private and don’t post. However what we see during rush is a huge amount of content that floods everyone’s FYP from the same 15 or so accounts. It makes it seem like every PNM participates because it dominates the app in August, but I don’t think that’s necessarily true.
Doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be banned or whatnot, just that I think the ones who do post are the ones exploiting it to gain a platform or even become some sort of “influencer.”
