by: pnmmmm
specifically talking about sororities. what are you looking for while you're talking to her that'll might make you think she's a good fit? (it would also b super helpful to mention which sorority ur in if u can!)
for example what she's looking for in a sisterhood, personality traits, etc.
I'm trying to gauge what sororities are looking for, so I can bring it up when I rush :) thank u!

Don't try to fake your personality or try change it to fit what you think each house wants. Your fake trying too hard will show and your rush will be terrible. Be your best, genuine YOU and you will have a much better process and outcome. You know how your English teachers say that when you write you should "Show, don't tell"? Well it's not WHAT you talk about but HOW you talk about everything and how you express and move and carry yourself. With all that said, here are two pointers: 1) Cute, sweet, fun. Remember those three things. Every single house wants those. Now what each of them means to each house is different. Cute can mean tons of professional makeup at one house but natural effortless beauty is appreciated at another. Sweet can mean overtly super perky to some, or genuinely kind in a calmer way at another. Fun can mean you party hard or are quick and witty and find humor in the little things. And there are multiple variations with everything in between of those three traits. Which kinds fit you? 2) Be positive. We KNOW you're sooo nervous so please don't say that, or that you're tired or hot or your feet hurt or the weather is humid. Etc. Just don't. We hear that so damn much and it just lumps you in with everyone else commenting the same thing. For once please say something positive and different that we don't hear every single round.

Carry the conversation, no one likes awkward silence. Ask follow up questions, make connections from the houses to your own interests and life. Think of easy questions to ask for each round when your mind goes blank or the conversation stalls. Remember they are trying to get to know you, be authentic and open minded. Good luck!!

Talk about your future plans at Alabama. I know during rush it may feel that your future is getting a bid because that's all you're thinking about that week, but all houses are looking for girls who want to be involved with more than just their chapter. Make sure you ask about other groups and volunteer opportunities members are involved in. Also all houses are looking for committed girls so be sure to think of ways you can show in your conversations that you'll be in it for the long haul, not just a year or two.
