I am in sorority at the school with largest Greek life on west coast and it is sooo different! this has been sooooo eye opening!

I’m trying to figure out what makes the top houses top? It’s not looks only (as it’s clear a lot of lower houses are better looking and vice versa). I thought it was wealth, but people kept mentioning mountain brook wealth. I’m not familiar with it, but it says median income is 150k? If money is the case, wouldn’t a lot of the out of state students actually have more money? I know that most people in Los Angeles make minimum 150-200k (not wealthy just normal living wages)

There are towns in Cali with median incomes in the 400-500k range.

You have to consider cost of living. Making 150 in Alabama is a lottt of money. In California everything is more expensive and the minimum wage is way higher so it’s really not a fair comparison.

in my town a ONE bedroom apartment starts at 3325. lol so yes going to alabama I feel like a millionaire. I always tell people you may be alabama rich but honey you are California POOR. poverty line haha

the out of state people have the money. they are paying for an experience. yes I have met some "rich" people from alabama but they cannot compare to the people I have met from California or Texas even

The girls from California are by far the richest. they are all the wealthy republicans that left their state. plus in state CA schools cost more than Alabama. Californians are starting to flock there
