well obviously it wasn’t better than pm, zta, aphi or the others but for them that was damn good and needs to be praised

it’s not bad it’s just usually not to be rude but they usually accept a lot of out of the box non-stereotypical, awkward, weird girls and this year they had a good amount of girls who looked like they could’ve been ztas or aphis so it’s just shocking that they did so well!! whoever was there recruitment chair really stepped it up and they really need to keep recruiting like that cause rn they’re not bottom anymore just lower mid and they can only go higher if they keep up this kind of recruitment. props to them!!

^this is not true. No one thinks theta is so bad except for the trolls, unhappy actives, and moms online. They don't take any more awkward girls then any other house. Theta is a bit unusual in that they are very independent and sister centered. They don't hide their less then perfect sisters away or push them aside as filler girls who pay the dues and do the grunt work. They seem to celebrate and accept all of their sisters. We all know that takes place in our houses where we have sisters who don't quite fit in. It is often those hidden girls in other houses who like to crap on theta because it makes themselves feel better for being a filler in their better house. Every theta I know is smart, active on campus, and super sweet. Many are top leaders in other organizations. When I went through theta was rushing from the stadium and they still had a great pledge class with several of my rush buddies going there. They would fit perfectly in my house or yours. For the past 5 years they have been getting great new members who are super cute. Walking on the quad you could not distinguish them from any other house. They get a lot of hate from keyboard warriors but on campus they are friendly and respected.

Theta has been at Bama for over 50 years, and for most of that time they were a mid NR srat. At Bama, one of Theta’s eventual problems was that when they came to campus, they were an old, well-established National srat vs a southern focused srat, so they have always had a stronger OOS draw vs instate draw. This piece explains a lot about their eventual lower rank: 1) OOS members were looked down upon in the past. 2) More OOS members means less traditionally southern views and more open to independent views, also a minus for Theta. 3) More independent views lead to Theta being the only srat to decline membership to the machine when stats were invited to join.

Several NR mids on campus fall into1&2 above, but 3 pushed them to the bottom.

Theta has and continues to get the great members.
However, now OOS is not taboo.
Now, as all srats bring in more OOS, all are becoming a little less traditionally southern. Finally, many could care less about the machine. Theta’s past perceived minuses are becoming the norm.

When they colonized and for the first few years they were on campus (when there were way fewer OOR students), they actually took a lot of legacies of Old Row-y chapters like UGA, Vanderbilt, and Texas.

They had really good pledge classes in the mid 2000’s
