by: Alpha phi and KKGIt still amazes me how sororities preach positivity and diversity while blacklisting girls for similar reasons yet do the same in hiding when it comes to choosing new members and not letting POC in bc of the reputation. Like make it make sense. And don’t mention the de-segregation bs bc if if two girls were the same and the only factor was skin color, the lighter sister would get in.

And FYI, you realize these sororities do have the freedom to offer bids to whom they choose right? This ain’t participation trophy type BS. No one is “entitled” to a bid no matter what race they are.

THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HER RACE AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HER BEING A BULLY AND A REPUTATION RISK. She has admitted it multiple times on her livestreams today that she understands why she was dropped and it’s because she was not a nice person in high school and went to bars and drank and slept around when she was under the age of 18. We are all legal adults while in a sorority. She was not and she was posting about it in an attempt to brag. Please stop

So many comments on this/other threads are missing the mark. Race will always be a factor and we’ll always have to weigh the implicit bias at play. It is fair to question whether a white woman going through recruitment who had the same video resurface would be examined with less scrutiny. Makayla said she wasn’t drinking. Would we believe her if she was a white woman? These are fair questions to ask, especially when these chapters desegregated on paper eight short years ago and the former of phi mu has expressed doubt in how kosher her being dropped was.

She admitted in her live tonight that she had been drinking and was on her way to a bar in Auburn. Still a reputation risk regardless of her race.

No, YOU are missing the mark. There IS the same scrutiny on white girls every year and always has been. Just because you are not aware of it and haven't seen it on this site or TikTok or insta or whatever social media doesn't mean that there aren't multiple issues with it here every year as there have always been. It is not an easy thing to deal with and sororities take no pleasure in it, but it happens every year.

Her drinking or not would not make a difference. She literally showed her ass and it got shared on old row. Actives would be brought into standards and likely fined for that kind of behavior.
Top recruiting sororities have 100s of resumes that are almost identical. More than they can take. Sometimes it comes down to a tenth of a grade point. In this case she exposed a differentiation that is more concrete than her being mixed.
And she quit the process. We will never know if any of the other 12 sororities would have offered her a snap bid.
A good question is would she have accepted a bid to a new chapter like Sigma Kappa?
It’s complicated when girls like her only find certain chapters acceptable.
