dropped by my top sorority
by: so guttedi’ve been trying my hardest at rush, i’ve been having great convos, and making friends w a lot of the sorority sisters of the house i like but i just found out i was dropped by them. i have no idea what i did wrong. i’m a legacy AND had two rec letters for them and still was dropped. i literally sobbed so much when i found out and am still so gutted abt the whole situation. it’s like everything i planned for in my life is ruined. what do i even do? do i still continue w rush or is it a waste? ugh i’m so mad at myself for ruining my chances

I’m going to get so much hate for this but this happened to me when I rushed and I dropped out and rushed again the next year. My only regret is that I didn’t stay in rush until pref. Try to stick it out and see if you can see yourself in either of those houses before you drop bc you’ll never get your first semester back.

There is a whole sorority life ahead for you that you didn't plan on and didn't know about. You didn't do anything wrong, you aren't a failure, this was just not your path. Please put it in your past and go on with your future. You are going to do amazing things in the house you end up in and are going to be in a wonderful friend group. "When you're going through hell...keep going!"

If those girls dropped you after all that and made you feel like this, were you really meant to join there and would you even want to at this point? I’m sure you have amazing houses left that will give you the amazing experience you are looking for and won’t leave you feeling rejected like this. Every girl gets this feeling from rush, your future big might have even had the same thing happen to her. Give pref a try

First of all - YOU DID NOT “RUIN” YOUR CHANCES. Please stop that negative talk right now. I know you’re disappointed. But the reality is that most houses could fill more than an entire pledge class with legacies with 2 recs who are fun, gorgeous, smart & get along with the girls in the house. There are literally 2000 girls just like you going through rush.
Most girls aren’t cut because the chapter didn’t like them, but rather there isn’t enough room for all the PNM’s they do like.
So…good news. You have chapters left for Pref and you need to pull yourself together and treat them like they are the only sororities on campus. Because if you want to have all the wonderful experiences that your mom/grandma/sister had in their sorority, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE.
I hope you decide to continue. You might learn an important lesson that how life ends up can be way better than what you thought was your dream.

Yeah def stick it out til pref if you can, you can even accept a bid and drop as long as you’re not initiated you can re rush. I’m sure sophomores have so much fun too but I think there is something to coming in as a freshman and living in the dorms and experiencing all that new exciting college stuff with the girls in your member class. However it could be nice to be the only friend living off campus...
