snap bids????????
by: helphow do snap bids work? and how will you know if you got one? also what’s the difference between cob and snap bids. i have a house left that i absolutely do not want and it’s not because of tier but i just don’t see myself there. me and the girls i was talking to didn’t really connect and the conversation was extremely surface level. i think i’m gonna drop out of recruitment but i want to know my options.

There are every type of girl in all the houses, you may just have not been paired with someone you clicked with during rush….you will find your people in the houses, I’d give the one you got a chance. There are a lot of other girls probably dying for a bid to that house who have no options right now.

Girl, honestly. To hear you say you didn’t connect at the ONLY house that asked you back? Look at what you are saying, “the only house.” They are only house that wanted you. I highly doubt it was surface level on their part. I am guessing you were not giving to the conversations. Many girls have their hearts set before rush and never move past rejection from their wanted houses.
Good luck from someone who has seen this play out for years now.

Snap bids happen IF a house does not make quota during bid match - they can extend snap bids to fill their NMC up to quota before bid day starts.
Dropping out of rush in hopes that a chapter you like won’t make quota AND will magically decide they want to give you a bid is NOT a good rush strategy.
So your options are:
1. Give your one house a chance if they do invite you to Pref. Your NMC will have like 150 girls in it..certainly you can make friends out of that many girls, right?!?! Also remember the girls you’ll spend the most time with aren’t even in the house yet. They’re going through rush right now.
2. If they invite you to Pref and you decide that you would rather not be in a sorority than be in that house, you can withdraw after Pref without signing a pref card. If you sign your Pref card, you will get a bid to that house.
3. If you withdraw, you are eligible for COB this fall. COB is by invitation only and only the smaller than average chapters are eligible to participate. There is no guarantee of a COB bid or even being invited to any COB events.
4. If you sign your Pref card, get a bid & later drop before initiation, you cannot participate in any rush events until fall 2022.
5. If you have any ideas why your week was tough (lower than average GPA, no Recs, etc) and you really think you can fix it for next fall, you can try rush again. But usually your best shot is now. Know that this might be your one and only chance to join a sorority at Bama before you give it up.

You actually do not have to be on a house’s pref list to get a snap bid. You could have been dropped from rush completely, or dropped before pref.
